Good evening

Thank you for writing on health care magic

Well you need to relax and take things easy. If the blood work up comes normal, there is a very less chance there is anything serious troubling you. Even the CT Scans and X RAy chest as you have mentioned are normal. SO there is nothing hidden underneath either.

You need to understand the disease fibromyalgia and then the treatment part becomes easier. It is a disturbance of the pain centre in the Brain which causes widespread pain everywhere. There is always a feeling of irritability, forgetfulness, lack of sleep, frequent headaches, bowel upset. If not treated, it can worsen the quality of your life to a great extent. We have seen patients coming on wheel chair with only Fibromyalgia.

Log on to www.rheumatology.org--> Click on patient education--> Fibromyalgia. I would like you to go through it once and get back to me. Just want to be sure you read it and see if your symptoms fit into it.

But take it easy if nothings wrong

Well yes these can be a part of Fibromyalgia as well. I just want to be sure your thyroid levels were seen. If they are normal, then you dont need to worry about any organic cause. The feeling of having fever, swellings over the body all can be a part of Fibromyalgia.

You need some lifestyle modifications along with medications. It will help you get rid of the disease and improve your quality of life. I would still like you to go through the article once, cause once you understand the disease it will be easier to treat

all my thyroid levels were checked and nothing was off. I have been having stuffy noses for months now too. can this be a chronic sinus infection? What causes burning eyes? I just had a chest ct scan done and it was clear.
any other suggestions?

Sorry for the delayed reply..Was stuck in hospital shift.

Well, constantly stuffy nose can be due to Sinusitis as well. You can get an X ray or CT done for the sinuses to confirm it. It can very well cause burning eyes when the congestion is more. If present, you can undergo FESS to open up the sinuses.

But still it wont explain the other symptoms you are having..like burning, fever, fatigue. Fibromyalgia is a diagnosis of exclusion. So if you feel the nose are too stuffy ,you can request your physician to get an NCCT PNS done which could explain few of the symptoms of headache and burning eyes you are having.

Meanwhile, try doing some steam and take an antiallergic. See if it works.

well I had a ct done this morning of my sinus, and he said there was a little blockage but nothing serious. I had ct of chest done, and that was all clear. My next ct is on Monday of my abdomen again, to see if there is anything. I am paranoid and hate feeling like this. what else can this be? I have had all blood tests and all scans done. can this be my nerves and stress?
I need to be back to normal. This is driving me crazy.

Well that s good that it has come out normal. I really doubt CT Abdomen will give us anything conclusive.

If it is all clear there, it is probably Fibromyalgia. It will never show any abnormality in the scans or the blood tests but will continue to give you the pain and a feeling of fatigue, incapability all the time. Considering you are so young, you dont wanna spend time in and out of hospital.

I will suggest you can finish the scans, so it solves the apprehension of anything wrong in the body and if it comes out normal, start the treatment for fibromyalgia. You will feel better and gradually life will return to normal. But yes, have faith in the diagnosis or else there is no end to investigations and blood tests.

I read online that fibro can cause tender lymph nodes. I am having a weird feeling in my armpit and weird pains.. I am waking up feeling like a foggy hot head which sticks around for a while and then i feel like if i eat something bad, or something my body is not okay with, i get hot. i am going to try to eliminate wheat, and caffeine and see how i feel. I know this will take time, but I guess i am just trying to make myself feel better. can you please tell me what else i can do to make myself feel better ? you are a rheumy so you would know best about this.
thanks

Well the first thing you need to do is to try meditation...You need to relax your mind right now as it is running in all different directions and you are getting more anxious with it.

1. You need to start going out for regular jogs. Spare 30-45 minutes daily. Initially it may pain but build up on your stamina and it will get better.

2. Try to do something which you like. Something u enjoy doing, be it reading, listening to music, dancing...anything. Spare an hour in a day for that which will deviate your mind

3. I would like you to try Tablet Duloxetine. It will help relief the pain and the other feelings you are having and help improve the quality of life

But yes, you need to have faith in the diagnosis made. All 3 combos need to go together to make you get back to normal. Just medications alone wont help

how do I get rid of this hot feeling and my eyes also feel very dry and they are red and they burn sometimes as well.. right now my throat is burning. its so strange!

Well these are sort of neuropathic symptoms and sensitization syndromes. It will get better once you start treatment. But yes, you need to work towards meditation as well. Just to relax your mind of the anxiety. You will need a presciption for these medications from your rheumatologist. I will suggest to start early.

have you seen this with fibro? I guess my fear is that there is something really wrong with me and they have not diagnosed me yet :( I fear the word C.. I keep googling online and its not pretty when you read things online. I have bad days and I have better days. I just always have this warm feeling to me and I hate it, because I was always cold prior. can thyroid tests or hormone tests be inaccurate In the beginning. I just feel like I cant keep a normal body temp. I am either hot or cold. also, for this warm feeling and I get a headache with it too, should I be taking Tylenol? I try and go without it the entire day but sometimes I cant handle it.
please advise. I am just really worried and tired of feeling like this.

Detailed Answer:
Good evening

Well, constant worrying is not gonna bring out any good. Firstly, you have scanned all your body and there is no evidence of any sort of tumour or cancerous cells seen. Secondly, your blood tests are all normal. If the process had started earlier, it would have appeared somewhere in the blood at least.

So, i guess you have been extensively evaluated and there is no limit to investigations. More the problems you describe, more number of tests you will undergo without coming to a conclusion. So somewhere you need to put a halt.

Yes, we do see such symptoms in Fibromyalgia patients, rather even worse when they keep complaining of swelling which we cant notice. So my suggestions would be to start treatment for it and see if you improve with it or not before subjecting yourself to further investigations. Yes you can take tylenol once in a while. It is a safe medicine and can be taken without any affect on kidneys.

You need to stop worrying as it wont get you anywhere. Just start treating yourself and see if the improvement happens or not. If it still doesnt, we will have to look at other causes then

So if it was something serious, would it have shown in my 10 different blood works ups I have had? All of my labs showed my cbc in prefect range. All the scans were clear, and my mammography was clear too. I am just worried that something is not showing in my blood work or something was missed and causing me to feel like this. I keep reading its not good to feel hot and that there is def something wrong. It scares me. I have had blood work drawn for 2 months straight. do you think it would have shown up in those 2 months considering I went to the doctor with symptoms? I just want to feel that I am doing everything that I possibly can. How do these fibro feverish feelings go away? does the medication help this? how long can these last? I have had mine everyday on and off since end of XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
yes, you are right

Detailed Answer:
Good evening

Well, yes you are right. If anything is abnormal, it picks up in the blood immediately. Rather, it appears in the blood before you get the symptoms. So if any process is going on for which you approach a doctor, it would have already been there in your body for at least a few months. Plus your Scans are normal as well.So there is very less chance of it right now. As i said there is no limit to the investigations. You can go ahead with a PET CT also, but that also wont be much conclusive and you are getting exposed to lot of radiation.

So if the results and scans are ok, you should be reassured that there is nothing serious. Start the treatment for fibromyalgia and see if it gets resolved. Secondly, you can always repeat the blood tests after a period of 6 months to see if the new changes come up.

The feverish feeling will go away with treatment, as it is more of an inner feeling and there is no temperature being recorded on the thermometer.

But for all the medications to work, firstly you need to be at peace and have faith in the diagnosis. Or else there wont be much use in it. You need to get re assured first.

Management of fibromyalgia

Detailed Answer:
Good evening

Well , 99 F is not a fever. It is just the upper limit of body temperature. It can happen with fibromyalgia with a constant feeling of Malaise and fatigue.
Cymbalta is the Duloxetine tablet i was talking about. I feel you should start it and give it a try if you feel better. Rest of the medications are mostly just pain relievers which wont alter the disease process. Do start this tablet and give it 2-3 weeks time to act before you can start feeling better

Is Cfs related to fibro? How does someone just get this out of nowhere ? I want to feel normal and I don't. I feel hot everyday and get really tired. Does fibro cause tender lymph nodes ?

Brief Answer:
How to get back to normal

Detailed Answer:
Good evening

Chronic fatigue syndrome is a different entity from fibromyalgia. Although a lot similar, it is usually preceded by a viral infection. There is lot of fatigue rather than the pain and the tender points are usually not present.

Fibromyalgia comes after some stressful event which triggers a chain of events. It can be anything related to the stressors in your life, to something happening around you or you falling sick. That sets a course of events which needs to be broken down somewhere. As for tender lymph nodes, there is heightened sensitivity of your body to any touch. If someone just touches you as well, it will be perceived as a painful stimulus. SO it can cause painful lymph nodes as well. But i am sure they have already evaluated you for the lymph nodes and it may not be too significant.
