What Do The Following Test Reports Indicate?

default
Posted on Wed, 26 Apr 2017
Question: Two months ago, my wife developed pnemonia like symptons. She was treated with Cipro. It had no effect. CAT scan revealed a mass in her lung. She had a bronchoscopy last week. They took 14 biopsies. The mass closed off the airway and the upper left lobe is collapsed. We are waiting results and have a follow up appt for Wednesday. The office called and wants her to come in tomorrow for a breathing test.

During this same time period, my wife has had random knee/thigh pain, and swelling in the thigh above the knee.

Her CBC report had a few high/low numbers.

WBC is noted high at 13.5, Lymphocytes is noted low at 7 % and Absolute Neutrophil is high at 11.2. All of the other categories seem to be normal. Does this indicate anything in your opinion? Cancer, no cancer, bacterial, fungal? She tested negative for Valley Fever.
She is a non smoker and 47 years old.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
It may be cancer

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. I have gone through the details. Sorry to say but there are high chances of a malignancy. Chances of a fungal infection are low. A biopsy will tell it for sure and also tell the sub type of cancer. After biopsy a pet CT will be required to see the extent of disease and stage.
Treatment will be decided after biopsy and pet CT.
Please revert back with reports.
Thanks and regards
