What Causes Fatigue, Dizziness And Shortness Of Breath?

default
Posted on Mon, 20 Nov 2017
Question: I have been experiencing severe fatigue, dizziness and faintness upon standing, moving from squat to standing, and physical exertion, and shortness of breath and need for rest breaks after minimal physical exertion (stair climbing, carrying laundry basket downstairs). If I do too much on one day, then the next day I am completely exhausted and need to nap. I don't feel rested after a full night's sleep. I have some brain fog and forgetfulness, and I'm frustrated that I don't have any real answers. I am being treated for depression but I don't feel depressed. I am also being treated for hypothyroidism, but my current labs came back within normal limits. I have quit sugar, caffeine, and processed foods - and am eating better than ever. What's going on? Thanks!

Brief Answer:
Check adrenal function:

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking!
I have gone carefully through your concern!
The symptoms you described are hardly caused by an under active thyroid that is being treated with 150 mcg levothyroxine ( the dose is relatively high) but anyway is TSH level is too high, it may explain them.
I would suggest to check adrenal function to rule out an adrenal insufficiency as your symptoms are typically suggestive for it.
Except of thyroid hormones, Cortisol hormone produced by the adrenal glands is responsible to maintain normal blood pressure, energy and mood disorders.
So, you may discuss with your treating physician about checking it if it is not done until now.
Hope i have been helpful.
Best wishes,
Dr.Mirjeta
