Radiating pain

Questions and answers on "Radiating pain"

Could radiating pain in left arm while recumbent be caused by a UTI?
I was awakened by this radiating pain in my left shoulder and arm. When I stand, the pain is much less. I have a UTI but have not taken an antibiotic yet for it. I also have Parkinsons disease. This pain has occurred several times before, but not as severe as now

doctor1 MD

Hi
Pain in left arm is not due to UTI.
As the pain is related to position,it can be musculoskeletal pain.
Please take skeletal muscle relaxant tablet and Gabapentin tablet
For UTI,please take antibiotic.
If shoulder pain is not relieved with above medicines, please get an MRI of cervical spine....

Hi
Thanks for writing
After going through your symptoms, they are suggestive of sciatica along with low backache. The cause may be confirmed by physical examination, but most commonly it is due to slip disc that is prolapsed of intervertebral disc leading to nerve compression (pinched nerve).
The...

I have a sharp pain in my right ear, radiating down my jaw behind my right eye, causing headache, hard to open mouth, excruciating pain.dr said it was viral, some nerve in head radiating pain,to outer ear treating me with valacyclovir 500 ,I have severe allergies, and asthma& have had sever sinus problems before, but have never had an earache like this

doctor1 MD

Hi. Thank you for writing to HCM.

Valacyclovir is an anti-viral drug and may combat the viral infection. In the mean while it may not reduce the pain and for which you will need a painkiller. Since it appears from your history that the pain is probably due to inflammation from the viral...

Hello,
Radiating pain can be there because of gum infection or can occur because of impacted wisdom tooth present. In case of severe gum infection, periodontitis, pain is usually localized but can radiate deep into the jaw. If wisdom tooth is impacted that is there is not enough space for wisdom...

My 10 yr. old daughter has a T5 compression fracture caused by a lesion of unknown origin. Two biopsies were performed. The first was unsuccessful so the Dr. offered to tx her as if it were Langerhans cell histiocytosis which was the only diagnosis that matched her x-ray according to him; low dose chemo/steroids. We opted for a second biopsy which revealed a inactive infection of unknown origin. She is currently on 500 mg bid of Amox-Clav for 6 weeks and is in a brace. After 2 weeks, of antibiotics and about a month in the brace, she is still waking up in the middle of the night with pain that starts out as a tingling radiating pain that wraps around from her back to her chest and then becomes a stabbing pain. She states her level of pain is about an 8. She has a difficulty time breathing at times, and her sternum seems to be protruding even more. We have been dealing with this since late October 2013. I am confused as to why she is receiving antibiotics for an inactive infection and am wondering what this infection could ve been caused by.

I am 49 years old, I had a very bad pain on the right side of my body under my breast, with radiating pain to lower stomach, and chest area. I went to the doctor after a weekend of doubled over pain and very sore to touch. the dr. ordered a gallbladder sonogram. I have a gallbladder polyp 7mm. I have an appointment with a surgeon tomorrow. Should I be concerned, the polyp has increased in size.
