What Could Be The Reason For Having A White Vaginal Discharge?

Hello doctor, am 27 years old female, 55.6 kilo 5 f 5. I am just recovering from flu that lasted for over a week, the doctor gave me the following meds, cefutil tablets, neomol CF and mucosolvan. I have been experiencing itching in my vulva for a few days now and when I give in to the sensation, it hurts afterwards. There is no smell but there is white vaginal discharge which hardens on my underwear. My question is, what could be the cause of this. I am sexually active, single partner and no contraceptives used.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

According to your description, it seems like you are suffering from a fungal infection. Candida albicans is the main cause of it.

Taking antibiotics recently has made it worse. You may need to take antifungal ointment or suppositories such Clotrimazole or Miconazole cream.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
