I am a 69 year old female and would like to know if the following symptoms suggest a systemic yeast infection:mild vaginal yeast infection, cleared with miconazole nitrate; sudden appearance of red rash near armpit; not itching, not particularly burning; sudden onset of slight sore throat; have had mild dry cough for years. Very slight fever. Also I am not taking anitbiotics; I don't use deodorant; I have been on gluten free diet for several years. I have Hashimotos thyroid condition (nothing new). I use high quality probiotics daily to aid digestion. Oiginally slower digestion was caused by elavil. also, a couple weeks ago before any symptoms, I had a swollen gland for a brief time. Also I have been swimming regularly in a chorinated pool and hot tub.. Could I have a systemic yeast infection? Thank you.

My husband and I are trying to conceive a baby but he thinks he has the jock-itch so we bought the anti-fungal spray to relieve the itch. Does the jock itch powder spray containing miconazole nitrate have any effects on the baby-making process (ie. sperm health, sperm count, etc..)? We just want to make sure it will bring about birth defects in our baby. Thanks

doctor1 MD

Hello dear,I understand your concern. In my opinion miconazole powder doesn't effect the sperm quality, health or count. So dont worry.Getting the infection cleared is more important. After the infection is cleared try for conceivement.

I had some irritation and itching of the labia majora during my period ,i moisturized and the condition improved however after my period my husband and i had intercourse and overnight there was severe burning itching, inflammation and vaginal discharge. Since i have had yeast infections before I applied miconazole nitrate cream externally and went to my ob/gyn.She did a pap smear and gave me a supossitory and a one dosage of antibiotics. Now the inflammation is all gone and the itching has reduced drastically, however the labia majora is very dry and i have small cuts that are extremely painful along with some itching.I am still applying the micanazole cream externally how do make the dryness and cuts on the labia majora go away? please help.

Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

Painful cuts on the labia majora along with pain, does bring in a possibility of herpes genitalis, which needs to be ruled out by physical examination. Moreover since the itching and vaginal discharge has subsided on treatment given for yeast infection,...

I have been to a health clinic two times now because of a slight burning/itching on the tip of my penis. I'm slightly red around the penis hole and it seems that the skin is cracking up. I have been tested for STD (all negative) such as Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Herpes, etc, and gotten a bunch of antibiotics for it. The doctor at the health clinic thought it might be a yeast infection and gave me miconazole nitrate 2% to put on the penis two times per day for a week. It has been a week and I still feel pain/itching. I have no idea what to do; keep applying the cream or just wait it out.

Hi, Welcome to Health care magic forum.
As you describe it appears to be due to the diabetes, the cracking of fore skin of the penis is usually due to the diabetes,So first of all it should be excluded.
I advise you to consult a physician for diagnosis, or to exclude the diabetes.
I usually...

I was just diagnosed with herpes 1of the genitals and am going through my first outbreak..horrific. I'm at the stage of severe itching. What can I use to relieve it so I can relax or even sleep at night? I have miconazole nitrate cream from when I thought it was a yeast infection. Could this possibly ease the itch?

doctor1 MD

Hello dear,
Welcome to healthcaremagic.
I have read your query and understood your concern.

For itch, you can take antihistaminics like levocetrizine/ fexofenadine in night time.
Keep the area clean and dry.
miconazole will help only in case of fungal infection.

Antihistaminics will help in...

I ve been using Miconazole Nitrate 4% to cure a fungal infection/yeast as diagnosed by my GP. He first gave me several steroids to use where they only made the skin of my penis really thin and very brittle. I have since stopped using those and asked for Miconazole 3 day formula. I have used it sparingly for a week and have noticed my skin is almost dry and scaly. Seems thin also but it does not rip or split like it did with the steroids. Is there something better specifically for men or male genitals that will eradicate this infection and not harm my skin? I have changed my diet, I have stopped masterbating, as well as seized all other sexual activities. With Miconazole the infection seems to be clearing up and there are only a couple small spots I am waiting to go away. Should I stop using Miconazole? Is there something better made for men that will not harm my skin?
