What Do These ESR, Blood Sugar And TSH Levels Indicate?
Question: Dear doctor,
My husband 47 years old.5-7" in height.
Lost his weight from 84 kg to 81 kg in 15/20 days.is it abnormal?
He underwent following tests
1.ESR-18
2.Blood suger before fasting -96
Blood auger post lunch- 110
3.no suger content observed in urine.
4.Thyroid t2 ,t3 , t4, tsh are in normal range.
5._CBC-
platlet count- 3,60000
Haemoglobin-11.4
no fever ,no diarrhea
He suffers from migraine.some times headache ,vomiting ,acidity ,constipation occurs.
I m worried about the weight loss.
Pl give your opinion asap.

Thank you for query.
Your husbands reports are normal, except hemoglobin which is slightly on lower side for which you can take cap Becosules once daily for 15 days.
Weight loss of 2-3 kg various normally for every individual. In empty stomach your weight could be low.After having fluids or food your weight will be on high.
There are many reasons for weight loss like Inadequate diet,Diabetes,Peptic ulcer, acidity,Tuberculosis,Alcoholism,Depression,Gastroesphageal reflux disease etc.
In your husband's case as diabetes and hypothyroidism are ruled out i dont see anything major,But if you are really concerned a renal function test,Chest X-ray and ultrasound abdomen to rule out other possibilities.

Thanks for the early response.
He is facing acidity & gastric trouble like heart burn etc; does that can lead to Weight loss? if yes than does that is normal? what is remedy for the same?
1.He suffers from Migraine since last 10 years. he works on computer for almost 10 hrs a day being in a software field since last 25 years.
2.Neurologist has given him the tablet PROVINAL PLUS 10mg, once a day.
Some times after taking a tablet few hours effect persists.
3.As mentioned he suffers from too much acidity. Particularly in the morning he feels more nauseatic
4. Till last month he had stopped tablet. But now again he started the same.
5.Does he require to see neurologist?
6.Could there be any serious issue as far as headache is concerned?
pl answer asap.

As i said peptic ulcer can lead to weight loss in some individuals.
You can give Tab Pan D twice daily before food for 5 days which controls acidity and nausea.
Provanol plus obviously leads to lot of side effects like gastritis,dry mouth,dizziness etc.
Your husband needs neurologist consultation for change of medicine.
Make sure he takes right food,plenty of fluids.
Avoid coffee,high fatty diet.

Does migraine further leads to complications such as brain tumeour or even cancerous tumour?
What are the symptoms then in that case?does it affect ESR or platelet count etc?
What are the tests tone done to rule out those possibilities?

First you need to understand what is migraine.Its a headache which occurs due to environmental, genetical and psychological factors.Migraine is easily treatable through regular walking,bland diet and yoga.
The above tests you have done are just a normal blood count and thyroid profile which are normal.If you are really concerned then get an MRI brain.
