Question: I had my tubes clamped 5 yrs ago and was told by an er physician that my right clamp wasn'tin place anymore and to use another form of birth control. I am late on my period and have had heartburn for 2 weeks straight frequent headaches sore breasts and weight gain. I took a home test one day after missing my period and it was negative. I do have a tumor on my pituitary gland. Is it possible I can be pregnant or is it my tumor causing my symptoms??

Brief Answer:
Repeat test after a week

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to healthcare magic.I understand your concern.
In my opinion there can be two possibilities for missed period:-
1)first is pregnancy as there was slippage of tubal ring.So i suggest to repeat the test after a week.As usuallybthe urine pregnanvy tedts gives accurate redults after a week of missed period. So the pregnancy is to be ruled out.
2)Pituatary tumour:-Here the prolactin levels might cause absence of menstruation or irregular cycles.
Slippage of rings which can cause failure of tubal ligation surgery.Meanwhile the tubes lumen might have been blocked by intraluminal adhesions. But to know the exact patency of tubes hysteroscopy might be helpful. This might give you an idea whether to use any other contraception or not.
So i suggest you to repeat the test after 1 week and also serum prolactin levels.
The symptoms of pregnancy are sore breasts, nausea, vomitings, increased urination which usually appear at 6 weeks ie.,2 weeks after missed period.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Feel free to discuss further.
