im worried that I havw ALS, MM or some type of brain tumor or something because of my head twinges and tingljng in my foot. I have also had bojts of lins and needles in my fingers. jm concerned because at night, mostly when laying down I experience occassional musxle twitching mostly in arms and legs. I am worried because tonight, rather than tingle my foot is aching in the area under my toes. my hand is also slightly achy. thanks again for your help.

Answered by Dr. Sudhir Kumar (6 minutes later)
Brief Answer: My reply is below. Detailed Answer: I would like to reassure you that you do not have features to suggest those serious illnesses. In ALS, there would be thinning of muscles, severe muscle weakness and the symptoms get worse over time, also, it affects people above 50. In multiple myeloma, the blood tests would show the features of the disease, such as M band. Symptoms of brain tumor would be vomiting in morning, severe headache in morning, double vision, and papilledema on eye examination. So, you can relax and need not worry. my bloodwork was a cbc, lipids, cholesterol, etc...not sure if it was looking for that. I do have headaches in the morning but not severe, I do feel nauseous in the morning...but im 6 weekz pregnant. any idea why my tibgling foot would suddenly.become a very painfil ache? ans you wouldnt worry about the random muscle.twitches? thanks again.
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sudhir Kumar (3 minutes later)
Brief Answer: My reply is below. Detailed Answer: M Band should be specifically looked for in blood (serum electrophoresis test). These headache and nausea are not suggestive of brain tumor. Nausea could be related to pregnancy. Random twitches are more common in BFS (benign fasciculation syndrome), so, i would not worry about that. Best wishes, Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM (Neurology)

ok...now I am worried about MM? do you think that's likely? and do you know why my foot would become painful/achy rather than tinglebas per usual?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sudhir Kumar (4 minutes later)
Brief Answer: My reply is below. Detailed Answer: Again, MM is a disease occurring in older people, in 50s or 60s. There would be generalized aches and pains. In MM, calcium is high, hemoglobin is low, and ESR is elevated (in blood). Based on your symptoms, it does not look like MM. Best wishes, Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM (Neurology)

well, thisbwhole thing started with aches and pains in my arms abd legs but that went away. as of tonight, the tingling in my foot has stopped but now I have a really bad ache. any idea why thus could be? I also have occassional achey fingers.
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sudhir Kumar (5 minutes later)
Brief Answer: My reply is below. Detailed Answer: It is good to note that the aches and pains have resolved. the foot ache could be due to soft tissue pain due to local issues there and would improve in a short time. Best wishes, Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM

it is in the same area where my foot normally tingles....does this mean anything? could.xanax or levaquin have to do with that? what about my achey fingers? would all this mean MM? sorry for askjng you so many questions...just worries about that.
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sudhir Kumar (2 minutes later)
Brief Answer: My reply is below. Detailed Answer: The tingling of fingers and toes could be due to mechanical pressure on the nerves and not due to MM. Generally, xanax and levaquin do not produce these type of symptoms. They could also be due to vitamin deficiencies, if your dietary intake is inadequate. Best wishes, Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM

ok....any idea why this would suddenly become an achey feeling rather than tingling?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sudhir Kumar (1 minute later)
Brief Answer: My reply is below. Detailed Answer: Achy feeling comes more with muscle involvement, whereas tingling is more due to nerve involvement. So, a mild inflammation of the muscles could have resulted in achy feeling. Best wishes, Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM

o ok...well my muscles weren't recently affected by anything. Im also worried about MM because I kwep gettibg sinus infections and I read that part of that is repeated infections.
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sudhir Kumar (8 minutes later)
Brief Answer: My reply is below. Detailed Answer: Repeated infections in patients with MM, who are on treatment, as medicines used for treating MM (chemotherapy) reduce the immunity. However, in your case, that is not the case. Best wishes, Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM

ok and like I said...im worried about als becuase most of the tingling, electric shocky sensations, pain I get are in my feet...is it reasonable to ne.concerned about this? so MM is veru unlikely deapite the muscle.aches and pains etc?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sudhir Kumar (3 minutes later)
Brief Answer: My reply is below. Detailed Answer: In ALS, pain, achiness and tingling are not the main symptoms. The main symptoms are thinning of muscles, weakness of muscles and fasciculations. So, you do not have the features of ALS. Yes, MM is unlikely despite muscle aches and pains. Best wishes, Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM

ok, the only thing I do have in terms of als.is the fasciculations you mentioned. my muscles do twitch esoecially in my arms and legs occasionally and oftrn while laying down...and then of course my eye has started doing that on and off. what do you think of that? the fasciculations at around my eye, in my arms and legs....but only occasionally....except the eye...thats on and offball day.
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sudhir Kumar (59 minutes later)
Brief Answer: My reply is below. Detailed Answer: These twitchings are benign fasciculations, as there is no wasting or weakness of muscles. They would go away with rest and relaxation. Best wishes, Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM

ok...I took tylenol but it hasn't really.changed the achiness in my foot. its more noticeable when I am sitting down or laying down. I have had weakness in that leg at the start.of all this, it almost felt like that foot wasnt as there as the other foot but that has gone away. jowever, that foot does have an electric shocly sensation that goes to it and I sometimes feel a minor.tingling in my hops, upper legs, etc. im just trying to figure this all out and rule out ALS, MM or anything serious.
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sudhir Kumar (10 minutes later)
Brief Answer: My reply is below. Detailed Answer: As I mentioned, your symptoms are not suggestive of MM, ALS or any other serious problem. For pain relief, you could take naproxen tablets. Best wishes, Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM

ok I understand. why would the area that was tingling suddenly become painful/sore?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sudhir Kumar (1 minute later)
Brief Answer: My reply is below. Detailed Answer: The achiness is due to muscle involvement, and is due to inflammation of the muscle. This would subside on its own or with anti-inflammatory agents in a few days. Best wishes, Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM

do you have ant idea why certain fingers would experience pins and needles or achiness on and off over weeks? I do feel sick in the mornings but I think thats pregnancy. I am stilm experiencing sinus congestion and a fullness/loss of hearing in my left ear...im going to my ENT today. can sinuses have anyrhing to do with the tingling and all these other sensations? my foot feels berter this morning but still achey/sore...occassionally my toes are tingling and my leg is tingling...
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sudhir Kumar (5 hours later)
Brief Answer: My reply is below. Detailed Answer: The tingling could be because of mechanical compression of the nerves in hands, or due to vitamin deficiency. ENT evaluation would be helpful. Nausea would stop after 12 weeks of pregnancy. Best wishes, Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM (Neurology)

hello dr. XXXXXXX ...just wanted to give you an update. thankfilly, I no longer have a headache, I went to see a chiropractor again yesterday who noticed my apine/muscles around it are tender and today ny foot was barely tingling. hoqever, I have noticed that my arms hand especially on my left are shaky/tremory. I also have random muscle spasms in my arms and lega that come and go. again, im worried this is aomething serious such as mm, als, etc. however, over the last few weeks I have been tapering off of xanax which ive beeb taking for over a month. ive had no problems so far, this mondy I started taking .25 mg 2 times a day and the week before 3 times a day...could this have anything to do with it?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sudhir Kumar (3 hours later)
Brief Answer: My reply is below. Detailed Answer: Thank you for getting back. I am glad to note that you are getting better, as you have no headache, and feet aches are also less. Tingling in the hands could be due to compressed nerves in the neck region. Tremors could be due to tapering of xanax. Again, I do not think you have ALS, MM or any other serious illness. Best wishes, Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM

hello...just wanted to follow up and say that since ive been sleeping with pillows under my knees at night...my foot has.decreased greatly in terms of tingling and since the chiropractor adjuated me again. some concerns im having are that im still having little muscle apasms/tremors in my arms/hands...mostly on my left and this morning, in having head twinges again on ny left aide....in the crown area mostly above my ear. I also get little twinges in ny temple, above my eyebrow and sometimes behind my ear. I also have aches in my left eye..I know my ears are.filled with fluid, the left worse than the right. do you think any of these sumptoms are concerning or just sinus related? I also have mild tingling in ny upper leg periodically but not much. thanks again.

ok...because those symptoms were not present yesterday and go away with antibiotics. is there anything I can do for fluid in my ears beyond antibiotics. my ENT doesn't want to prescribe anything because I'm pregnant.

Brief Answer: Thank you for getting back. Detailed Answer: I agree with your doctor that we should not use too many medicines during your pregnancy, especially in the first 12 weeks. Steam inhalation and Valsalva manoeuvre may be helpful, as home remedies. Best wishes, Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM

my only other question beyond my headaches, is that my left arm.feels sore today and a little tremory.in my hand could this bw related to my tapering.of xanax rather than something seriousas a brain tumor, etc. im a little.concerned because my head twinges are more present during the morning ans sometimea night.

thanks for your response. my one last question, I noticed today that I had my heas twinges/achea again in the morning and then in the evening around 5-7 pm. they are mild and usually occur near my temples often on my left side. I didnt have this headache while on levaquin or any other antibiotics. again, im worried this is something really serious because of the pattern of when I have these head twibges,/aches such as a brain tumor, etc? do you think this could be from sinuses? this has been going on for weeks. thanks again for all your input. hello dr. XXXXXXX ..I have a question regarding my left arm. more and more latwly I have noticed that my keft hand is shaky when doing things and my muscles in my forearm and ipper arm are feeling tense and sore...but not to the touch. this can happen when im at rest, carrying something or even typing. sometimes this tense/sore feeling extends to my hand. i know it sounds ridiculous but im worried this is the start of ALS since it seems to be becoming more and more of an issue and only really affects my left arm. what do you think of this?
