What Causes Fatigue, Joint Pain And Rashes All Over The Body?

default
Posted on Thu, 25 Aug 2016
Question: In the past month I have had swelling and joint pain in my knees and elbows that comes and goes. at times I felt unbalanced. This week on Tuesday I had an overwhelming feeling of tiredness in the afternoon at work and started aching all over, I could hardly move. I went straight home and to bed. That night I had restless night with wild dreams and night sweats and felt feverous. The next morning I was exhausted and my eyes were red and my cheeks too. That has gone on the last 3 nights but after I pull myself together in the mornings I feel better and make it through the day. The extreme exhaustion is gone. Yesterday I felt a bit itchy on the back of my neck and shoulders and Today I have awakened and I am covered by a rash.

Joint pains with rashes

Detailed Answer:
Good evening

Thank you for writing on health care magic

Well, you seem to have some sort of autoimmune problem going on..Joint pains and swelling along with fatigue and rash, does give us a clue that there is some problem underneath going on, which is slowly surfacing...

I would like to ask you a few more queries to see where we are heading:

1. ANy history of oral ulcers /Hair fall?

2. ANy history of Dryness of the mouth or the eyes?

3. The joint swellings you had..Did it disappear itself or did you take some medicines?

4. Could you give me more details on the rash..The location of it ??If you could attach a picture it would be helpful

5. ANy history of weight loss or apetite loss??

6. The fever you mentioned..Was it high grade or low grade??

7. ANy blood tests done so far

Do let me know these queries. WOuld guide you further from here

I found out how to upload the picture of the rash. The rash isn't that itchy and the is all over my entire body. I attached the picture of the rash on my chest. On mine shins it looks just as it does when I go skiing in a cold climate and my skin just extra dry. Last night I had a normal night, no night sweat. I forgot to mention when I was having the feverish feeling and night sweats I was also have bizarre dreams.I live in the Cayman islands and we do not have any Rheumatologist here, so advising me what blood test I should have done would help me identify my issues so I can get treatment. Also what you suspect it might be.

Good evening

Sorry for the delayed reply..WAs out of town

I have seen the rash..It is maculopapular one which I feel we should go ahead and investigate..

As per your other history, there doesnt seem to be history suggestive of autoimmune disease, but joint pains , rashes could be the start of it. And especially with loss of appetite, there may be something going on within

I am advising you the following tests:

1. Complete Blood count
2. ESR, CRP, TSH
3. Liver function tests
4. CPK, LDH
5. REnal function tests
6. Urine routine
7. ANA( By immunofloroscence)

TAke some anti allergics for time being for the rashes...We need to figure out where things are going wrong

Thank you. I am to go to hospital in morning for tests. I ended up seeing a doctor here and he prescribed prednisone 20 mg for 5 days, klaricid Xl 500 mg, histal, and a cream and blood test. I will compare his list to your list. Not really sure the antibiotic is necessary. My joint pain is a lot better after only 1 prednisone but the rash is still bad, I didn't take the histal due to the fact it makes you drowsy but will do so today. I am not having any abdominal pain, back pain or problem eating. I have had IBS most of my adult life and that has been acting up recently.

Blood tests

Detailed Answer:
Good evening

Well, I am not too sure if you need Klaricid here.. I dont think antibiotic will make much difference...He has already added steroids for you and the results are better. So there is some form of inflammation going on...

I would suggest we get the blood tests done first..So that will give us a clearer picture on how long to continue the medicines...Otherwise, it is mostly hitting in the dark...

Do update me on the results

Good evening

Sorry for the late reply..Had a long 24 hour shift

Well, the joint swelling and pain can be there even if rheumatoid factor is negative. It becomes a seronegative arthritis...one has to to document the joint swelling to say it arthritis...SO I still wont rule out the arthritis possibility..DO you know if he had run an ANA also??

If you could attach the results it would be helpful

Also, since we are in a doubt if it is arthritis or not..I would suggest you schedule an appointment with a rheumatologist, so he can examine your joints and rash and give us a clue on what we are dealing with. Secondly, if possible get an ultrasound of the joints which were swollen..To confirm if it is arthritis or something else we are dealing with

Await your reply
