Brief Answer:
medicines are needed to prevent withdrawal symptoms

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr. XXXXXXX

Thanks for writing to us.
I appreciate your decision to quit smoking. It will help you a lot from health aspect as well as for your and your family's future.

15 years and 10 cigarettes per day is big intake. Sudden stopping of the same can cause severe withdrawal features. It requires deaddiction under medical supervision.

Apart from nicotine patches and gums(which is just replacement therapy) there are medicines which can help to to stop smoking. I do not prefer initial use of nicotine until patient insists.

Bopropion is the choice of medicine. Specifically SR (bupron SR) preparation is used in deaddiction. It acts via norepinephrine and doapmine pathway and reduce craving of smoking. Along with bupropion, propranolol and low dose benzodiazepine (like lorazepam, clonazepam or etizolam) are used to reduce and stop withdrawal features.
Dose and duration of treatment depend on duration, quantity and frequency of smoking.
The best doctor to consult for the same is psychiatrist as by degree he/she is a deaddiction specialist also. Psychiatirts can also help if you have some problem due to break up issues.

Like all allopathic medicines bupropion has some side effects like gastric discomfort, insomnia and anxiety features but most of the patients tolerate well.
Bnezodiazepine can cause dependence if used without doctor's guidance. But for stopping smoking they are used in very low dose and for short duration.

Considering your intake routine body examination, some blood investigations like CBC, RFT & LFT and chest x-ray & pulmonary function tests are to be done. This will help to check your physical condition and if needed some intervention can be done.

If you are taking healthy diet regularly no supplements needed specifically. After examination doctor may prescribe required supplements.

Hope I have answered your query,I will be happy to help further.

Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.

Brief Answer:
your blood reports are fine, for medicines doctors should be consulted

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mr. XXXXXXX

Sorry for delayed response.

Your blood reports are fine.It is good that you are looking forward in life after break up.
Continue exercise though fatigue is there. Later on it will be beneficial and no pain will be there.

Common withdrawal symptoms of smoking are: cravings (nicotine is the substance in smoking that causes addiction),anger, frustration, irritability, tingling in the hands and feet, sweating, intestinal disorders (cramps, nausea, constipation), headache, anxiety, depression, cold symptoms as the lungs begin to clear (sore throats, coughing, and other signs of colds and respiratory problem) and so on. Severity and duration of symptoms depend on quantity and duration of smoking.

To treat symptoms and for deaddction medicines are given after physical examination. Bupron SR generally is given in 150 mg dose twice a day. Other medicines are changed roughly every two days according to withdrawal symptoms and type of cut down. You can stop cold turkey also or you can reduce one cigarette every one or two days.If withdrawal is disturbing much and severe craving is there nicotine gum can be used initially.

Most of the medicines I mentioned are prescription medicines and you need written prescription for the same. I am sorry that online prescription is not valid at present and I cannot help in that regards. You need to consult psychiatrist personally.

No special diet or home remedy is there to treat such symptoms. But yes with powerful motivation one can stop smoking without medicines and by suffering withdrawal features for few days.

Hope this answers your concern. feel free to ask if any doubt yet.

All the best.
