Suggest Treatment For Sebaceous Cyst On The Scrotum

default
Posted on Mon, 28 Nov 2016
Question: Hi, Last week I had a sebaceous cyst on my scrotum (right side). Doctor gave me an antibiotic and an antibacterial ointment. The cyst is gone. But now there is a discharge from below the scrotum with itching and burning sensation. The discharge is odorless and colorless. There is no rash or bump in that area, the skin looks normal. I am still using the ointment. Is this a side-effect or something else? I am 28, height 5'0", weight 116 lbs.

Just wanted to add that, the discharge is sticky and leaves white stains on the clothes.

Brief Answer:
Photograph required

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query.
Sebaceous cyst has a punctum through which it produces sticky material, although nothing is visible on the skin.
Probably this might be the reason for the sticky discharge.
If possible upload a photograph of the involved area.
This will help me in giving a closer diagnosis and better way of management.
Waiting for your response.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Intertrigo

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the photograph.
It's intertrigo, a mixed bacterial and fungal infection.
I treat such cases with a combination of antibacterial cream and antifungal cream.
Apply mupirocine cream in night and clotrimazole in morning.
This combination works well.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.

Thank you Dr. XXXXXXX I'll apply those creams and let you know what happens. Just another inquiry, what is the reason of this happening? Is this related to the sebaceous cyst?

Hi Dr. XXXXXXX
Will bacitracin zinc, neomycin sulfate and polymyxin B work instead of mupirocin?

Brief Answer:
Not related to sebaceous cyst

Detailed Answer:
Hello
It is unrelated to sebaceous cyst.
It's a secondary infection.
Better use mupirocine It will give faster relief.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.
