Brief Answer:
Superficial skin infection ..take treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I understand your concern regarding your skin problem and I hope I am able to help you in the same .
You seem to have developed a superficial skin infection called pyoderma.
Since the area is very inflammed, you surely need to start some oral antibiotics and anti inflammatory agents soon.
I would suggest you to take tablet azithromycin 500 mg once a day for five days.
Take some oral anti inflammatory agent like paracetamol 650 mg tablet twice a day .
This will take care of the infection and the swelling .
Such skin infections are very common in summers. Make sure you clean the affected area twice a day . Apply a topical antibiotic cream like neosporin or mupirocin over it.
Do not apply any other cream or oil over it .
I am sure the lesion would heal in five to seven days with treatment .

Thanks!! Doctor..

So you are sure this is not a Swollen Lymph Node and rather a skin problem.
Is this dangerous in any form?

What else should I do to avoid such infections happening on my skin.
I see some such lesions on my leg and lower back, they have itching session also.

Brief Answer:
Either skin infection or lymphadenitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi again
Going by the clinical appearance of the skin lesion, it is more likely to be a superficial skin infection .
But we cannot completely rule out a lymphadenitis which is an inflammation of the lymph node. But in either case , the treatment remains the same.
Such lymph node swellings in the area behind the ear can occur due to any scalp infections, folliculitis, severe dandruff, hair lice or even due to sore throat or any teeth infections.
You would need an oral antibiotic along with an anti inflammatory agent in either case.
If you are really concerned and need to be very sure, then you will have to see a local doctor since a direct examination of the area is essential to differentiate between the two conditions.
Now as far as the problem over your legs is concerned, I would like to know more details about it.Since when do you have itching over legs.
What all are you applying over it? Any oil or creams?
It would be great if you can click some close up pictures of the skin rash and upload them here on this page. You can also email the pictures to YYYY@YYYY with subject line as “attention to Dr. Geetika Paul”.

I am sure I will be able to help you more once I take a look at the exact skin lesions.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

From the description of your skin lesion behind the ear, I suspect it to be an inflammed post auricular lymph node.
Now as far as the lesions over your legs are concerned, you seem to be having multiple lesions of folliculitis. We need to find the cause of such extensive skin lesions.
Please tell exactly which all areas of body are involved?
Any itching over the groin and the genitals as well.
Since when do you have this itching over body?
Do you apply any oil over body routinely or any body lotions?

Brief Answer:
Recurrent folliculitis, should get better

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

Thanks for all the details.
First of all, I do not relate all your problems with any kind of cancer.
In my opinion, you have recurrent folliculitis.
You should surely avoid body massages and application of any oils or moisturizers over the body as far as possible.
You can start intake of medicines as advised earlier.
They will help in treating all the body lesions.
I would advise you to get a fasting blood glucose test done since it is important to rule out diabetes in your case.

You can start with the treatment and follow up with the reports.
I do not see any reason for you to think about cancer, so just relax and take the treatment.

Take complete five day course

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

It is good that the skin lesions are responding to treatment.
As advised earlier., you need to take the medicines regularly for atleast five days. The complete course of azithromycin is for five days. Take paracetamol twice a day along.
I am sure this will help although it will take time before complete resolution . You can follow up after five days and tell regarding the progress.

Brief Answer:
Kindly provide details about the improvement

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

I have seen the attached picture .
It surely looks like a skin pyodermic lesion.
I would like to know how much difference do you feel since the time you have started with the treatment .
Is there a decrease in pain and the lesion size.
You might need a higher antibiotic if the improvement is not that great.

Yes i certainly feel lesion size has decreased slightly and has soften a bit since last 3 days Yes hardness and pain has decreased a bit.

Also i would like to tell you few things which I have been doing since past few days.

1. I am taking Adgain (Cipla) and Mega-3 capsules for hair improvement
2. I had a acidity problem 2-3 weeks back for which I took some acidity medicine for GERD cure.
3. I have slight irritation in one of tooth at the same side where i have this lesion.

Can any of the above lead this lesion formation or bump behind my ear?

The other lesion on my leg and back have also shown some improvement since i started taking these medicines.

Please suggest higher grade medicine if you feel that will improve this faster.

Brief Answer:
Take treatment as prescribed

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

I really do not relate your problem to any treatments you are already taking.
Since you have noticed improvement in the lesion, so I would surely advise you to continue with the same treatment .
However if even after five days of the course the lesions tend to persist and are painful..then you can start with tablet amoxiclav 1 gm twice a day for the next five days.
