Can T Meprate Be Taken During Ovulation?

default
Posted on Wed, 30 Jul 2014
Question: Hi,

I am 29 yrs old and TTC . I have PCOD and my TSH level is 3.58 , FH 3.08 and LH 15.6 on the 2nd day of my cycle. I was on T meprate to get my periods this month since I hadnt had it from last 3 months and from the 5th day of the cycle I am on Clomid 50mg.

i.e My periods started on July 3rd
I was on Clomid from 7th July to 11th July , So i assume my ovulation will start from 16th /17th July.

In the mean time since I dont get my periods on time I was also asked to take T Meprate from 15th day of the cycle , i.e. July 18th . But this will coincide with my ovulation cycle . So wil this have any contra effects? I.e Will starting T meprate have negative effects on the ovulation cycle / Clomid meds?

Also I have heard that a TSH above 2 is not a great indicator to get pregnant , is that true? If so should I work on getting my TSH between 1 and 2 and then start clomid from next cycle?

I am also doing power yoga to maintain my weight and Thyroid , will this affect my ovulation ?

Brief Answer:
Progesterone Support

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I read your query and I understand your concerns.

Following is my reply:

1) Your hormone values including TSH are fine. Dont worry about them. You dont need medicines for the same.

2) Meprate was given to act as a progesterone support if pregnancy occurs and not just for getting periods ontime.

3) Poweryoga or any form of excercises are not recommended after ovulation. No excercise or yoga which leads to abdominal pressure is recommended.

4) Rather walking is preferable.

Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Brief Answer:
No

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Starting Meprate wont affect your clomid meds or ovulation cycle after ovulation has occurred.

But you need to confirm ovulation before starting these medicines. This confirmation can be done by follicular growth scan or ovulation predictor kits.

Hope your doubt is cleared now.

Ok great , thanks for your prompt reply. One last question .

You said its not recommended to do power yoga during the ovulation cycle , but since I had a history of Hyperthyroidism with regular practise of Yoga and dynamic XXXXXXX namaskar it is under control with no need to take any medications . So I am worried that if I stop yoga my thyroid may reccur and I might also start gaining weight. What do you suggest? If I do light suryanamaskara (Not at a fast pace) and avoid abs excerises would that be sufficient?

Thanks so much for your expert advice, it was very relieving.

My plan right now is to try with T meprate and Clomid for 4 cycles and hoping to get pregnant within these cycles. If it doesnt work then I am planning for a laproscopic ovarian drilling in 5th month of trying .

Also another question I have is that me and my husband use a bit of lubricant during intercourse, will that affect the sperm quality or reduce chances of pregnancy?

When I test my ovulation cycle in Kit and its time , is it suffucient to have intercourse every 2 or 3 days?

Brief Answer:
Need

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Your TSH is 3.5. You donot suffer from hypothyroidism. If needed repeat the test. You need treatment only if TSH 5 or above.

But these workouts i dont suggest especially after ovulation.

First confirm if you are ovulating by follicular growth scan. No need for laparoscopic drilling if you are ovulating. It is infact harmful if you are ovulating as per scan.

Lubricants reduce chance of fertility. Instead increase fore play.

If you are ovulating better to have intercourse everyday to increase chances.

Let me know where you live and i can suggest a good fertility expert in your city if i know.

Let me know if you have anymore queries.

I live in XXXXXXX and am currently visiting A V Hospital for advice .

Thanks a lot for your detailed answers Doctor. Since this is our first try for pregnancy I have a lot of question that keep popping . So Thank you for your patience in answering these .

Yes I know I dont have hypothyorid now , but I had a value of 8 in the past which is now controlled by regular yoga.

The doctor I visited said that my FSH is 6. -- so my LH should be half of FSH during the day 2 (When i got my tests done) . But because of PCOD my LH levels where very high (15.--) , so my doubt is will Clomid manage these levels? Because I understand that the ovulation kit works on the LH factor in urine , since my LH levels are already high is it possbile that the ovulation kit might not give accurate results and only a follicular scan is apt?

Please let me know your thoughts...

Brief Answer:
High LH

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Feel free to ask questions.

The thyroid report earlier might be wrong. It cannot be controlled by Yoga alone. You can start medicines if need be.

Your LH is high due to polycystic ovary. Clomid wont reduce this but will increase follicular growth.

You are right LH kit might give you wrong results due to high LH levels in body. Follicular growth scan only is going to help you.

If you are in XXXXXXX you can consult me with your reports once in XXXXXXX IVI fertility, Sadashivnagar, XXXXXXX between 2 to 6 PM.

Regards
