doctor1 MD

Hi there ~

doctor1 MD

Your sleep apnea is not the direct result of taking these medicines.
Benzhexol has no role in causing sleep apnea.
Sulpiride will not cause sleep apnea but may precipitate it or worsen it by causing weight gain.
You should take proper treatment for your sleep apnea. Weight reduction will help...

You are in a difficult place and doing the right thing. Your attempts to diet and lose weight will pay off. It is hard, slow and incredibly rewarding. Be sure that you get good treatment for sleep apnea first. With respect to supplementing with medicine, the answer is not simple. If you are...

I am currently awaiting a sleep clinic to determine sleep apnea - all symptoms point to this diagnosis (referred by my GP). I have fully researched CPAP treatment etc. I would like to know more about the role of cortisol in the body (and weight). Also would sore and weakened muscles be symptoms too - all over, but especially feet, ankles, fingers (and arms) ?

I had ct scan which showed excess lymphoid tissue in throat behind tongue that pushes on glottis and narrows my airway. They said this is what causes my sleep apnea. I was referred to this surgeon to rule out lymphoma because in addition to this i also have a lump on the side of my neck that is not a cyst or fat deposit. He used endoscope and confirmed what ct scan had shown but said it is nothing to worry about, that it was abnormal but normal for me. Why would he not do the biopsy i was referred for and why would this be something i should not worry about?

doctor1 MD

Hi,

Thanks for posting your query.

After going through your query, I would like to comment the following:

1.     Increased neck circumference is a risk factor for sleep apnea.

2.     Since there are no other features on CT (Computerized Tomography) suggestive of lymphoma and the local characteristics on...

My 5 year old grandchild has enlarged adenoids and tonsils with no infection present. He is having sleep apnea, snorting, and a difficult time breathing while asleep. Surgery is scheduled but it is in over 1 month from now and his breathing has been horrible for already 2 months. So my question for you is can the adenoids completely block the airway and make someone stop breathing and not regain breathing.

I have been diagnosed with Diastolic dysfunction. It was found due to a irregular heartbeat. The echo found +2 mitral valve regurge. I went to a pulmonologist first and have no issues there. I had a right heart cath done and that is when the diagnosis was determined. I am asymptomatic (no sob, no cp, nothing). I have NIDDM, 53 years of age and overweight (5 7 , 199 lbs). I am excercising and eating better (down from 210 at Christmas). I have been tested and confirmed for very mild sleep apnea. I am trying to use a CPAP but without much luck. I am looking for alternatives to improve my heart muscle. I am on Lisinipril.

YES, please, if you can. I had bariatric sleeve surgery Dec 13th and lost 65 lbs, for which I am grateful, my diabetes is now in control and I am back on just Metformin instead of insulin 5 times a day. My sleep apnea is in remission, but I have a noisy gut. I mean really LOUD. When I lay down to sleep at night the gut seems to talk all night long, if I open my mouth the noises amplify! Sometimes it is accompanied by pain and sometimes just the annoying noise. Every time I eat I get loud tummy rumbles, sometimes my tummy is very tender and sore. I have a lot of diahrea too, sometimes uncontrollable! I have diverticulitis and IBS , so I am aware of my stomach being a very tender area for my body and I never eat breads, rice, potatoes, pasta, white flour or white sugar. Is this a serious condition or is it just something I need to get used to and live around? The worst of it is truly when I get diahrea that is so out of control I don t know when I head for the bathroom at work if I will make it in time! Last week I did not, and had to go home, it was too embarrassing and I was exhausted and weak after the attack. I have oatmeal for breakfast every day and only take Imodium when it s really bad. What else can I do to live with this condition and prevent uncontrollable diahrea? I m 67, female, had a radical hysterectomy years ago, have had 4 hernia surgeries.
