What Is The Cause For Discharge Without Blood After Menopause?
7mm thick uterine lining - post menopausal - normal endometrial biopsy - but discharge continues (no blood). Was tested for every infection known to man - all negative. What is the protocol for having a repeat endo biopsy, since there is always the chance they didn't scrape the spot where the cancer might be.
Your concern is relevant. The commonest cause is senile endometritis due to low estrogen and responds very well to estrogen supplements or creams.
The possibility of missing the affected spot on biopsy is there and so a hysteroscopy directed biopsy would be better.
Anther possibility is fallopian tube cancer. Very rare, but a mass is usually seen on sonography near the uterus. So discuss with your doctor about all these and get a hysteroscopy with a combined laparoscopy if there is no relief to estrogen therapy.
Hope this was helpful. Do not worry as it occurs mostly due to estrogen deficiency. Feel free for any further queries. Dr Nilajkumar Bagde Consultant Ob Gynec
