Delayed Periods. Pregnancy Test- Negative. What To Do?
Hi Doc,
Hope u r doing well.
I am a 27 year unmarried guy and have physical relations with a girl. From last 2-3 months she is not having her periods on time. In previous month it got delayed by 10 days and now in this month its 11 days passed but nothing happened. She did a pregnancy test today and it was negative. She is little fatty and consuming green tea these days. Please advise what should I do, should I wait for more days or can get it by some medicine and what about future.
Hello, As she is having these irregular periods of late, she should be investigated and examined properly. The cause should be identified. You should get her blood tested for serum beta-hCG levels and also get a trans-vaginal sonogram and consult a gynecologist. Sudden weight disturbances, stress, infections, certain medications, polycystic ovaries, hyperprolactinemia etc. are some of the reasons for abnormal periods. Please use contraception to avoid any unwanted pregnancies. Hope your query is answered. Take care.
