Polycystic ovaries

What is Polycystic ovaries?

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), also called hyperandrogenic anovulation (HA),

PCOS is due to a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Diagnosis is based on two of the following three findings: no ovulation, high androgen levels, and ovarian cysts. Cysts may be detectable by ultrasound. Other conditions that produce similar symptoms include adrenal hyperplasia, hypothyroidism, and hyperprolactinemia.

PCOS has no cure. --> Birth control pills may help with improving the regularity of periods, excess hair, and acne. Metformin and anti-androgens may also help. Other typical acne treatments and hair removal techniques may be used. --> In vitro fertilization is used by some in whom other measures are not effective.

PCOS is the most common endocrine disorder among women between the ages of 18 and 44. The earliest known description of what is now recognized as PCOS date from 1721 in Italy.

Hello I am a 31 year old women that got my first menstrual cycle at 10 years old and 5 years after that I was told I had polycystic ovarian cysts or symdrome . I've been having irregular and painful periods all my life even though that my 3 pregnancies have improve a little. But a couple of months ago I started with a headache that will not go away with over the counter meds and I went to see a neurologist she did a physical and she send me to do a ft scan with contrast. Thankfully it was okay.but a couple of months after that I had my Obgyn physical due and a couple of days prior to the visit I felt with a little heat around my neck and face it was mild that people will hardly see it but I felt hot around my cheeks and ears and neck. It comes and goes I sometimes sweat and have chills but cannot recall if its associated or not because I will be sleeping and fell sweating not that much but a b I told all this to my Obgyn and he told me I was too young to be having pretty menopause symptoms. He then send lab work for me for hormone panel and a chromogranin A test that when he explains what it was for and with all the research I have done online I so afraid that have depression, I can't sleep at night I spend all day on the internet and I getting more confused and scared with what I read.please help me. I know that I have to wait for the result but I am.going crazy and the more I think about it the more.symptoms I feel. I also noticed that those people that have any of those neuroendocrine and adrenal tumors have a deep red flush face and neck with patches that is not my case at all but I'm still scared. Please please help.me. I don't smoke, I don't have high blood pressure I'm pretty healthy. I am 5 ft 0 inches and weight 166lbs. I know I sound like I'm repeating my self but since you cannot see me I have to explain as much as possible. Every time I feel like my face and ears are hot I look in the mirror and sometimes you don't see anything other times you see a very light pink across my cheeks. That's it I don't know if that's a kind of flush that will be associated with any neuroendocrine or adrenal tumor symptom. I was also reading online that pheochromocytoma tumors can produce a flight or fight response I don't know if that what I can possibly have since my chromogranin A came back negative for other tumors that produce that same flushing and burning sensation I have all day, I also can't stop my mind to worry about this all day and I spend times checking my self out for any redness because I sense.my body weird that is hot.

22 nd July me and my gf got intimate..no intercourse,no fingering,no genital contact..may have just rubbed her vulva with minuscule amount of precum if any(it may or may not be precum bt not a handful of precum),that was on 38th day of her cycle..she was due in her periods then..3 days later she got light and medium period with blood clots and typical smell of blood during period which she gets in her period from 25th July-28th July..after 22nd July no sexual intimacy..she has roughly 34-37 days cycle bt her flow during period varies sometimes normal sometimes light..on 31st july(few days after her july period) she got slight brown discharge once, she said that she got this in some of her earlier cycles too may be old blood of period.. after 22nd July no sexual intimacy, then again on 15th August she got her period(2 weeks early) with light and medium flow and lots of blood clots for 4 days(15-18th August)..that was on 22nd day of her cycle..She took some 10 no of Urine pregnancy Test with Preganews all being negative, latest being on 27th August(36 days after the sexual act) and it came back negative..She has PCOS,earlier had medications, now stopped..cycle length is 34-37 days now bt her flow varies..Her age is 20..after her august period on 16th august she visited a homeopathic doctor who gave her medicines earlier too to regularise periods..she now gave her Calcarea Carbonica which she is taking now..

1)Mam no chance of pregnancy as the urine pregnancy test with preganews showed negative result even after 36 days from the incident?
2)Mam why is the August period(15-18th August) early by 2 weeks?we didnot engage in any sexual act after 22nd July..she got the august period on her 22nd day(15-18th August)..she was under stress,is that the reason?
3)Mam her flow during period varies, she got 2 periods though with reduced flow after 22nd July incident,so no chance of pregnancy at all with that incident on 22nd July?
4)May month Period 11-14th May(light and medium flow) XXXXXXX month Period 15-18th June(normal flow),July month period 25-28th July(light and medium flow),August month period 15-18th August(light and medium flow)

I am 26 year old unmarried girl. From the past 3 months my number of days of my periods have been reduced from 5 days to 2 days

Periods dates and days:
11 july (26th day) [3rd day didn't happen, 4th day brownish discharge]
8th august (29th day) [ 3rd and 4th day didn't happen; 5th day it did happen little]
6th september (30th day) (first two days good flow, 3rd and 4th day didn't happen)

So basically I used to get my periods for 5-6 days and now it has been reduced to three days, which is the cause of my worry.
I am unmarried and not involved in sexual activities.
I got all my tests done. Here are the tests results:
HB : 13.10
glucose fasting : 92
glucose(pp) : 79
insulin, fasting : 10.40
insulin, PP : 11
prolactin, serum : 8.95
TSH, ULTRASENSITIVE, serum : 0.999

Tests on Day 2 of my periods:
FSH : 7.09
LH : 5.59

Ultrasound of pelvic report has this written:
Both ovaries are normal in size/volume (Rt. 40X27X43mm:24cc, Lt: 28X30X38mm:16cc). Multiple immature follicles ranging from 3 to 6 mm are present mainly in periphery of both ovaries with increased stromal echogenecity.

My doctor says that level of my LH hormone is increased and I have polycystic ovaries which is cause of my worry. I am not even married and I have read that this disease causes infertility. My weight has been between 51-52 kg from the past 6 years. I didn't notice any such symptoms of hair growth, acne and obesity. Am I really suffering from PCOS and can it be treated by medicines.

My doctor has given mychiro tablet in prescription

Will this condition cause any hindrance for me to conceive in future. I am going to get married in 7 months and I am very worried. Please help

Dear Doctor,
I'm asking this question on behalf of my beloved cousin. She stopped having her period since the age of 15, and now she is 23 years old. She thinks the amenorrhoea started because she was in very bad mood. She says she doesn't produce estrogen and her prolactin level is high. Apart from those two symptoms she is totally normal. She tried many medications and also traditional herb medicine and found them ineffective. That's all the information I could gather so far. Thank you in advance for helping my cousin out.

doctor1 MD

Brief Answer:
Please get blood test done

Detailed Answer:

It is very important to understand why her cycles stopped no matter what she thinks.
Taking herbal medicines or hormones is not the solution.

Please follow the advice I am typing below:

1) She needs to get few blood tests done...
