What Does My Lab Test Report Indicate?
Question: sorry, i DIDN'T THINK I WOULD NEED A FURTHER FOLLOWUP. WENT TO DR. YESTERDAY & HE PRESCRIBED NITROFURANTOIN MONO-MCR 100 MG. EVERY 12 HRS. WITH FOOD. HAS ALSO ORDERED LABS: CBC WITH AUTO DIFF; COMPREHENSIVE METABOLIC PANEL; HEMOGLOBIN A1C; LIPID PANEL; THYROID STIMULATING HORMONE & VITAMIN D 25 - HYDROXY. . I FEEL REALLY UNWELL FROM JUST 1 PILL THO NO ALLERGIC REACTION. SHOULD I CONTINUE TO TAKE IT? WILL THESE LABS REVEAL CYSTITIS/URETHRITIS?

I read your question and I understand your concern. Prescription of nitrofurantoin indicates urinary tract infection . it could just bladder or whole tract involved including both cystitis and urethritis and ureteritis. lets wait for the labs and hope for the best.
Discontinuing medication is not wise. take the pill in between the meals and drink more fluids with it at least 8 ounces of water. Nitrofurantoin is usually avoided in ages above 64 when safer alternative antibiotics are available. urine culture should have been taken as well to find the bug and antibiogram for it. Consult your doctor and let them decide what's best.

i STOPPED TAKING THE ANTIBIOTIC BECAUSE IT MADE ME VERY SICK. I HAVE DIABETES & AM ALLERGIC TO A LOT OF ANTIBIOTICS. ALL OF MY LABS CAME BACK NORMAL EXCEPT FOR HIGH TRIGLYCERIDES. MY DR. CAN'T EXPLAIN WHY I KEEP EXPERIENCING BLADDER/URETHRA PAIN. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I EAT SUGAR, FRUIT OR FRUIT JUICE. ANY EXPLANATIONS?

I will still consider it for urinary tract infection. Culture and sensitivity of urine will show us the clear picture in this. Also, strict glycemic control will help the symptoms. If glucose levels are high which are pretty common after using sugar and sweets, such symptoms kick in.
Just modify diet lifestyle, keep an eye on the blood sugar levels, drink plenty of water to stay well hydrated and see if it helps.
