What Causes Severe Abdominal Pain, Constipation And Diverticulitis?

default
Posted on Thu, 20 Apr 2017
Question: i had abdominal pains since 1992 in the lower right region of the abdomen near appendix. i was pains when pressure was applied, sitting or physical work. doctors didnt find out until 2 weeks ago my gi doctor said its hernia. asked me to go see a surgeon for surgery. i have not yet seen one since i was having another problem since 2007. since 2007 i started having issues where i was waking up from sleep feeling of choking and gasping for air and with numb feeling on the left side of my head. then over the years i had issues in my left eye where the eye was not opening in the morning time easily. feeling of dirt or something in the eye. that lasted several months. over the past year or so i started having headaches after eating on the left side of the head. note i always had abdominal pains, mild to sharp depending on the time of the day, meals i had, physical position im in. the headaches were getting frequent after meals and abdominal pains now with swelling started over 2 years ago. i didnt had swelling of the abdomen prior to that. over the past 1 1/2 pcp and gi doctors have prescribed me various medications for constipation, weight gain, acid control, probiotics. couple of them also prescribed me medications for ibs, assuming wrongly. i took these meds for over a year on and off. few months ago, while i was on medications after a meal i felt like gagging or choking or feeling of breathing difficulty. i went to the er and they were careless didnt find anything. i went to my pcp and she couldnt find anything and gave me wrong advice and said it could be diverticulitis. this was over 4 months ago. then two months ago i started having this episodes of throat issues more frequently along with tightness of fullness in the stomach. for the past 6 days im having this issue with some pressure in the throat, tightness after eating solids not liquids, feeling of
something stuck in the throat, numbness of the right arm mild, twitching of the lip not frequently, feeling of light headedness, sensation that not enough air is supplied to the brain. only starts after eating solid meals or even one solid morsel of food. remember my new pcp also thought it is a gi issue. i have an appointment with a new gi doctor since my last one didnt work out. i want to know what is causing it, what food should i consume and what is the treatment for it. the abdominal issue i believe will be taken care of by the surgeon.
a gi doctor last year mentioned that if the problem is not found then she will check my spinal cord since that could be the cause of the abdominal pains. i have a deformed sticking out in the middle. i get sharp back pains when i lie down in bed at night and it gets better when i get up in the morning.
i also get stuff filled in my nose daily and i have to clean and i do get some mucus, but not much. for the past 5 days since i started having an episode of this throat issue the stuff in the nose was missing. i dont know why.
lastly, i didnt notice this throat issue happening outside or in a well ventilated house, it was happening in small houses. my current house is a basement, it has high dryness. no air circulation. but my XXXXXXX citizen mother has totally no breathing or any issues whatsoever. so somehow it is happening to me. it could be a gi issue or an ent issue in my view.

Brief Answer:
Throat issues could be due to allergy.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to the HealthcareMagic,
Thankyou for asking here.
Dear as you said that one of your treating doctor diagnosed hernia in 2009.I would like to ask wether you got checked by a surgeon once for hernia.Since Hernia happens when abdomen muscles weaken and some part of intestine bulges through that hernia hole. And these symptoms of fullness and other GI symptoms could be associated with that.
Other causes of GI symptoms can occur due to stress, anxiety and taking large meals at a time etc.

For throat issues I would like to tell that sometime these symptoms can happen due to simple allergy and taking steam inhalation two times a day at home and antiallergic medicine would really help.Since every body has its own immune system which works differently from other person, some have good immune system for particular allergy and some may get prone to allergy due to different factors like wether, environment change etc.

For your GI symptoms I would also like to ask that have you done ultrasound(sonography of abdomen) before? If yes could you please share previous reports if any?

I would really appreciate .
Best regards,
Dr.Maheshwari

the abdominal issue will be adressed since i will be seeing a new gi doctor in three days. im seeing an allergy doctor in 2 days also. i thought i should get your advice since the throat issue was not figured out by the e.r. i had visited few months when i visited them due to the same issue. so this time i didnt go there again. instead of i made an appointment with specialists and i thought of getting your advice while i wait for the doctors appointments.

i took the allergy pill, half of allegra-d today and it didnt seem to do much and i feel the pressure in my glands like tonsilitis, etc. when i swallow i feel the bulge in the throat. my last throat ct scan was normal, when i visited the e.r. for the same issue 4 months ago. they did an x ray as well and said it is clear. i dont know what they were looking for.

my tonsilitis was never removed by the way. my right side gland seems to be somewhat swollen and the left is not. there is a half done root canal on the tooth #1, and tooth number 16. i didnt return to the dentist since i had one of those gagging and choking episodes during the root canal soon after the dentist put some sodium hypochloride on the tooth. supposedly it is non lethal but in my case it was not somehow. i started gagging and choking for 20 seconds. so you see i have got sensitive to some vapors, like cigerettes, sodium hypochloride, food. could the problem be due to the open or half completed root canals on two teeth. i had several root canals done on at least 3 other teeth besides those.

finally, the issue doesnt seem to arise when i eat on empty stomach it is occurring when i eat to the maximum of my appetite. i checked online on google and it was showing some side affects of abdominal hernia which causes such problems as throat issues, breathing and difficulty breathing. there are some medical issues which does create throat issues including breathing, swallowing, tightness in the throat, etc. what is your analysis.

Brief Answer:
It could be Globus Hystericus or allergy to sodium hypochlorite.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Thanks for your detailed history.Since all your throat investigations came normal. In conclusion either it could be allergy to sodium hypochlorite or it could a condition called Globus hystericus.

Globus hystericus is a condition in which person persistently feels lump or swollen gland in throat inspite of not having actually lump or swollen gland in throat. This condition can happen in some people with anxiety ,stress or habbit of smoking.

If it is allergy due to sodium hypochlorite ,rinsing throat with betadine gargles, tab.allegra 1 tab two times a day may help.

For Globus hystericus physiotherapy of throat muscles, nasal spray, taking antacids ,avoiding smoking and avoiding stress ,anxiety might help. Some time getting counselling for coginitine behavioural therapy may also help.

In nut shell I would advice you to get Checked by an ENT especialist to rule out any swollen gland or lump in the throat,or allergy .Otherwise Globus hystericus has also needs to be ruled out.

hello there doctor,

as i mentioned earlier that the medical facility was inefficient and did not thoroughly check my issues. i visited a small hospital emergency room. the physician assistant was hasty. not an efficient and competitive person. but thats besides the point. bottom line is they have not found the cause of it or ruled out anything. they were inefficient. thats why im seeing new doctors. including getting your advice.

like i mentioned earlier i notice a small swollen gland in the right side of my throat not left side. there is a half completed root canal on the tooth i mentioned earlier. i feel mild presssure in the throat constantly and it gets worse after a meal. i feel that the food is stuck in the throat and tightness builds up and numbless in the right arm, mild, and sometimes lightheadedness. moreover i have discovered the condition gets better when i take pain killers like tylenol or sit in a certain position.

bottom line the problem is definitely agitating afer meals, solid not liquid. i dont want to be too negative but the system was not good enough and they never told me im cleared of all issues except anxiety or stress, which i personally think is the last thing that may be true.

the fact that i have been having this issue since 2007 where i was waking up from sleep feeling i couldnt breathe and sometimes i felt mild numbness on the left side of the head also. it used to subside after a minute. this new issue seems to be a continuation of that same issue, only more in severity.

Dont worry you will be fine dear.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Yes dear you willbe fine.Just try to avoid stress and anxiety.First an ENT especialist review will help to rule out any actuall swollen lump in throat other wise globus hystericus has to be ruled out.

I hope I answered your query. And it will help.Wish you best of Health ,take care.
