Brief Answer:
Ultrasonography ASAP

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.

Noted the history: to recapitulate: discomfort since first week of November- shingles then - still right sided discomfort- nausea - ribs hurt where there was Shingles - ? Gall bladder ... trying acupuncture.

Simplest way to see whether gall bladder or the nearby liver or pancreas is at problem is a simple ultrasonography.

Shingles pain at age of 66 cam take long time to go and acupuncture is a good alternative.

Was the singles at the same area of previous discomfort on the right?

So please get the ultrasonography done ASAP.

I hope this answer helps you. Please feel free to ask for more or if you feel there is a gap-of-communication.

Yes, Shingles was on my right side, near my ribs and waist.

I will get the ultrasound this week. I've been putting it off 'cause there are so many flu cases. I will make the appt. for early in the morning.

Thank you for your reply and info.

Brief Answer:
Worries are reduced id ultrasonography is normal

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your appreciation.
Please get the Ultrasonography done. If this is normal, the worries are reduced.
Take care for the Shingles pain, take a little more time and you may also consult a Doctor to get a prescription of Gabapentin if the pain is more.

I followed your advice and my doctor ordered a complete abdominal ultrasound and pelvic ultrasound.

Results: negative, but some cysts on my liver which they said are common and normal, I did a blood test to check my enzymes just to be safe.

Do you have any suggestions on how to make my neuraligia discomfort on my right side go away. It is more discomfort than pain. My doctor thinks it is residual from Shingles at Thanksgiving. I am not interested in taking any prescription med at this time

Brief Answer:
Apply ice.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your feedback.
Good to know that ultrasonography is normal except for the cysts on liver.

If you are not interested in taking prescription medication for residual pain, try the following :
You can try applying ice.
Some people get relief applying some kind of routine jelly like Xylocaine jelly.
Wear loose clothes.
Try avoiding stress and anxiety, I mean be as comfortable as much as possible.

This may help.
I think there should not be any problem taking a long acting sustained release Gabapentin if required.

Wishing you a good health at the earliest.

Thank you. I will try applying ice. I really do not like to take Rx drugs.

One more question, please: I notice when I scarf down my food (not chew it enough) it can get stuck in my esophagus? With age does the eso have less elasticity? Frequency: about 2 to 3x/month, depending on how fast I am eating.

Brief Answer:
Elasticity is not lost with age.

Detailed Answer:
Usually the food does not get stuck in the esophagus even on scarfing down unless the is a bolus of a meat piece or so.
No, the elasticity is not not lost with age.

I will chew more carefully. If it happens again, do you think I should have a scope done to stretch my esophagus?
doctor
Answered by Dr. T Chandrakant (8 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Better to get one done

Detailed Answer:
Great- chewing properly is the best preventive measure.

If there is history of any problem during swallowing, Upper GI Endoscopy should always be done to rule out any major problems.
