I have been taking citalopram 20mg a day for 5 months and due to have the flu jab tomorrow - would there be any drug interference between the two or is it fine ?

Also my soon had a the flu vaccine for the last 3 years do you advise he should have the nasal spray one available he is 5 ?

doctor1 MD

There is no significant interaction between citalopram and flu vaccine injection.so you can go ahead with the vaccine.

Injectable vaccine is better and safer than nasal vaccine.

doctor1 MD

Hi,

This may be due to lymph node enlargement. This may be seen in few patients after flu shot. You may also develop mild fever, myalgia.
If the swelling does not disappear in couple of days or any severe reaction, chest pain, breathlesssness then need to consult your doctor. Till then no need to...

doctor1 MD

Dear User,
Thanks for using health care magic.

From the available description it appears that you are having gluten hypersensitivity or intolerance.
It is better for you to avoid it all together.
In my view prevention is better for it and there are very limited options after taking it.

'Hope I...

Hi, i had a flu shot on Tuesday and on Thursday afternoon i noticed a lump near my collarbone. it moves around a lot. it is on the same side i got the shot. it was a bit painful at first but now it is not paining at all. it just feels a bit soft and kinda slides on and off my collar bone. i am very worried. what could this be?

doctor1 MD

Dear patient,

Thanks for your query. Most likely, this is an inflamed lymph node, what people call "a gland", as a normal consequence of the vaccination; these nodes serve as "factories" to prepare immune cells against newly encountered antigens, in this case the flu vaccine. Monitor for resolution...

I am currently being treated for a UTI and sinus infection. I learned today that my nephew (who I have been around all weekend, taking care of him while he's sick) just tested positive for the flu. I have not had a flu shot. I am also concerned because I have asthma so the flu can be even worse for me. His doctor would not prescribe tamilflu for the rest of us because its in high demand. Should I call my own dr and ask for some? How likely am I to get the flu? I am also a teacher and don't want to spread it to my students.

doctor1 MD

Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

I appreciate your concerns. The first thing I would suggest you is to take due precautions to prevent spreading flu from your nephew to you. As you are not vaccinated, it can spread and cause infection if you are not sufficiently protected. Therefore take the...

My 3 year old daughter has a persistent cough which is keeping her awake at night. During the day we have sprayed with a saline nasal spray which seems to be loosening the mucus and allowing it to be discharged through the nose when sneezing. We do have a neublizer at home and Duolin for our 5 year old son. Would it be appropriate to give this to her? If not what can we do to make it easier for her to have a peaceful sleep? We have had her at the Dr twice in the last 2 weeks. First time she had a viral infection and had a course of anti-biotics. Second time she was running a high temperature and the Dr said that she had full blown flu, prescribed rinex and pain medication. Has started vomiting and dirohea since.
