Brief Answer:
It is quite natural phenomenon - Do not worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi...This is quite natural phenomenon. Any baby will behave like that only.

I will tell you the reason for this. The baby will have bonding towards both of you. But the baby will have you all the time where as the father will be available only for few hours. Even a this age the baby will be able to sense this and will try to get most from the father whenever he is available.

Even my kid used to do this and now he is 4 years old and even now he does the same. Nothing to worry about it.

You asked how to get rid of it - But I say - No need to get rid of it.

This will settle as the kid grows up and understands the family relationships and responsibilities of father and mother. As they grow up the kids will become more attached to mothers.

Brief Answer:
Please answer the questons below - I have seen the image

Detailed Answer:
Hi... I have seen the image. It looks like his right thigh is swollen. I have a few question for you -

1. Is there any high grade fever and if so - how high and since how many days?

2. How are his movements in the right thigh? Is there any restriction of movements in the right thigh?

3. Is the Drug the Dr prescribed - Amoxicillin Potassium Clavulenate/ To tell the dose and how to administer I need to know the weight of the baby?

4. Actually the drug you are mentioning is an antibiotic - I would like to know what your primary pediatrician said when he started an antibiotic for a 6 and half month old baby?

5. Is the swelling in the right thigh since birth or of recent origin?

6. Is the swelling after a recent vaccination?

Please get back to me with answers so that I can guide you better.

Brief Answer:
Viral cough and cold - No need for antibiotic

Detailed Answer:
Hi...As there is not fever at all, no need to use antibiotic. Cough and cold are viral 95% of the times in children. For cold you can use anti-allergics like cetirizine and for nose block, saline nasal decongestants will do.

For cold you can use Cetrizine at 0.25mg/kg/dose every 12 hourly for 3 days. This is a prescription drug and you will need a prescription for it.

For nasal block, plain saline nasal drops will do, every 4-6th hourly to relive nasal congestion.

Coming to your query about dengue - Dengue is caused by mosquito bite and especially that dengue mosquito is a day biting one. The best way to protect the kid is by putting full clothing (full hands upper wear and pant and socks). While sleeping the best way is to make the baby sleep in a mosquito net.

Dengue is treatable when recognized early. I will tell you the danger signs of dengue fever and if these appear then you need to seek medical attention immediately.

In dengue fever, rather than platelet count...most important things are -

1. Swelling and water accumulation all over the body.
2. Decreased urine output
3. Respiratory distress
4. Seizures
5. Regarding lab tests - PCV or Hematocrit is more important than platelet count. If it is above 38 and the kid is not drinking water well, we need to hospitalize and start intravenous fluids.

What you need to do is - watch for the above danger signs and if they develop rush to nearest emergency room.
