Hi XXXXXXX

Thank you for the query.

I would like to know few more things which would help me in suggesting you better:

1.) Do you have nausea, chest pain or heart burn?
2.) Did you sustain any injury to your chest area?
3.) Do you smoke?
4.) What is your height and weight?
5.) Did you get yourself treated for Hiatus Hernia 8 years back? Any Surgery was done?

Your history suggest symptoms of Hiatus Hernia, but it has to be confirmed by doing the following,

1.) Barium meal x-ray.
2.) Endoscopy.

Kindly don't panic, once the cause for your symptoms is confirmed, you will be treated with,

1.) Antacids that neutralize stomach acid.
2.) Medications to reduce acid production.
3.) Surgery (to repair the hernia defect).

Follow these lifestyle modifications:

1.) Eat six small meals instead of three large ones.
2.) Avoid hot, spicy and fatty foods.
3.) Drink plenty of water.
4.) Eat at least three hours before bedtime.
5.) Avoid alcohol and smoking if you do.
6.) Avoid lying down immediately after having food, sit up for a while.
7.) Exercise regularly for 30 to 40 minutes and maintain a healthy weight.
8.) Avoid stress, practice relaxation techniques like yoga and meditation.
9.) Sleep for a minimum of 8 hours daily.
10.) Sleep with the head end of your bed elevated.
11.) Stick to your treatment plan and go for regular follow up.

Hope I have answered your query; I will be available to answer your follow up queries. Please accept my answer in case you do not have further queries.

Wish you Good Health.

Take Care.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Tauseef.
