When Will Endrogel Work For Low Testosterone Levels?

my boyfriend and i are trying to have a baby, we just found out that he has low testosterone with blood work that his doctor ordered, he was prescribed endrogel, and he has been using it for a month now. How long will it take before we start seeing results? He said that it should be working but am still not getting pregnant!

Hi,

It takes around 3 months for any changes in the sperm for any kind of treatment done for infertility.

Testosterone should be normal after a few days of treatment with hormone replacement which your boyfriend is currently on.

If you have the baseline sperm analysis prior to treatment then I would suggest having a repeat semen analysis after 3 months of continues hormone replacement.

It is also advised to stop smoking and avoid alcohol during treatment to improve the semen analysis. A healthy diet and regular exercise have been shown to improve fertility in men.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Manuel C See IV, Urologist
