Wheezy Chest, Coughing Up Black Grid, Deep Sore Throat. Should I Be Concerned?
Hi. I have been coughing up black grit in a sticky mucus for a number of weeks, and my wife complains of my wheezy chest . I was an irregular smoker until last Jan (2012), and only smoked about 5 times since then. I am 36 years old, but work in the diesel engine industry and been subjected to exhaust gases and high NOx levels on occassion. Should this black grit concern me? I also have a deep sore throat .
thanks for your query. History seems that you may have Lower respiratory tract pathology that needs to be evaluated. You have two imp precipitating factors leading to such condition - smoking and your are exposing repeatedly to poisonous gases. Consult any bonchoscopist and do flexible bronchoscopy and check your sputum for culture and sensitivity and take treatment accordingly. Many thanks, take care.
