What Causes Period To Last One Day When Having Pelvic Inflammatory Disease?

Im 21 years old and am sexually active. I started my period yesterday then all of a sudden stopped today. This has never happened before. I am also on the Pill.
About a month ago i was diagonsed with Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, I took a course of antibiotics and everything cleared up, could this be part of the cause?

OB & GYN Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Pelvic inflammatory disease usually does not affect the bleeding pattern in periods, but you said you are on pill. So that could be the reason for having less bleeding. Anyways, I would suggest you to get an ultrasound done to see that you have not developed a cyst or something in the ovary which could be associated with pelvic inflammatory disease and also affect the bleeding pattern.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rishma Lakhani, OB & GYN Specialist
