What Causes High Cholesterol?

I have a cholesterol of 239 hdl of 30 ldl of 164 trig of 88. Was wondering if coffee creamer and eating fatty foods a few days before my test would make these negative results. I eat healthy most of the time. Have a active job, no not exercise and am probably about 10lbs over weight.

Hello,
Welcome to Health Care Magic. I read carefully your query and I understand your concern.
I see your blood lipid profile and you have high total cholesterol, a low level HDL, a high value of LDL and a normal range for triglyceride. The triglycerides are the most common lipid affected by food.
The causes of high level of lipid blood test profile are hereditary have a family history; diet with too much saturated fatty animal food products e.g. butter, red meat, egg ,cheese ,milk ;overweight usually increase triglycerides and decrease HDL, sedentary behavior increase LDL and decrease HDL ,hypothyroidism ,etc.
Before the lipid blood test you should follow the typical diet for at least a week before the test, should not consume alcohol 24 hour before the test, you should avoid eating and drinking (except water)9-12 hour before test and the last meal before the fast should be a low-fat one, its indicated to avoid exercise 12-14 hour before you made the HDL test.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Kind regard,
Dr .Marsida Janko
