What Causes Bruising On Lower Left Side Of The Back And Can It Be Autoimmune-related?

Hi, /I have bruising on the lower left side of my back. This is the second time I have noticed it in the past few weeks. The first time I noticed it, I thought I must have bumped into something, but didn t recall bumping into anything. This time, I m sure I did not bump into anything. In the past, I would not have thought much of this. However, I have been seeing my family doctor for two years for a number of unusual health occurrences he feels may be autoimmune-related, and have an appointment to see a rheumatologist in Nashville in March. The only bladder/ urinary difficulties I have had are recurrent UTIs and neurogenic bladder. I was just curious as to what could cause bruising in this area. Thank you.

Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
A history of spontaneous bruising ( without any trauma) could indicate an underlying bleeding diathesis. You may need to check your platelet count, bleeding time, clotting time and prothrombin time. Sometimes, it could be a part of an auto immune disorder.
Hope this helps you.
Take care.
