What Are The Treatment Procedures For Pancreatic Tumor?

My mother was informed last week (at University Hospital in London) that she had a pancreatic tumor that was cancerous & the doctor said (in brief) that unless she wanted to have a biopsy, she would not be referred to an oncologist even though he was sure it was cancer. I would like to have a second opinion on her situation.
The doctor she saw said she had 8 to 12 months to live - we really need some help in getting her to an oncologist.
Thank you, Kathleen Baker

First of all, it is important to know whether the tumor from the pancreas has spread to other areas of the body like lungs or liver. If it has, then he cannot be cured as it is last stage tumor and the only treatment option is chemotherapy which will prolong her life somewhat and make it more comfortable. In this case you need a biopsy or FNAC (needle test) before starting chemotherapy. If it has not spread and can be removed surgically then the ideal treatment is surgery which has the potential to cure her forever. There is no need for a biopsy in order to go for surgery.
