What Are The Precautions Needed For A Non-displaced Tibial Plateau Fracture?

I have a non displaced tibial plateau fracture. My ortho said I can walk on it and it has only been 3 1/2 weeks. Everything I read says you should not put weight on it for 2 to 3 months. Am I hurting my knee even further. I went for a long walk today and stopped at grocery store and my knee is hurting more than it has in a couple of weeks.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us,

I have studied your case with diligence.

Tibial plateau fractures may be associated with ligament injury leading to knee instability.

So I will advise to take an repeat x-ray and MRI knee to see ligament injury.
Use knee immobiliser

Non weight bearing for few weeks is very important .And physiotherapy in form of CPM [continuous passive motion] can be started immediately.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care
