Suffering From Sore Throat And Lump On Left Side Neck, Hurts When Head Turned. Is It Due To Smoking?

Hi Matthew, I have a sore throat and a lump on the left side of my neck . My throat feels better today but the lump is still there and my neck is kind of stiff. It hurts a little when I turn my head left. I ve been a smoker since I was fifteen, I am now 32 and haven t smoked for a few weeks now but I m concerned. Do you think this could be cause for concern?

thanks for your query.

History seems that you had an attack of tonsillitis with lymphadenitis (neck node.)

If your symptoms were resolved and just neck nodes are there, then it will take time to resolve the neck nodes.

As you are chronic smoker, neck nodes needs evaluation if no signs of relief in a week or two.

If so then better to go for fine needle aspiration cytology.

till then take any anti inflammatory drug like Tab Chymoral forte twice a day.

Most imp. that avoid smoking and alcohol.

Many thanks, take care, bye.
