Hi and thanks for the query,
fever and cold are common symptoms, usually of viral origin in children. Treatment is usually symptomatic with use of simple analgesics, non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs, passages clearing agents like saline water and anti histaminic drugs. Prescription of particular drugs shall actually depend on the case as directed by the clinical evaluation of the physician. Anti biotics are generally not a mainstay in the management of these patients. However, persistence of fever, onset of cough and respiratory distress and alteration in the general outlook of the child might be signals for reevaluation and probable bacterial infection. Blood tests like a complete blood count or chest x rays depending on the case might be required to proof this.
I suggest you get the opinion and reexamination of the baby by your family physician or pediatrician.
Thanks and best regards,
Luchuo, MD.

Hi Rohit,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Nothing to worry and don't be panic.

Your child seems to have a simple upper respiratory tract infection could be due to a virus.

Continue to give paracetamol in prescribed dosage every 6th or 8 th hourly depending on the presence of fever.

For cold you can give an oral antihistamine like cetirizine in a prescribed dosage.

If there is nose block, you can use saline nasal drops to get relief from the block.

Give plenty of oral fluids.

And consult your Pediatrician as early as possible for the examination of the child and treatment.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.

Your child is having fever with respiratory symptoms which is mostly viral in nature and takes few days to settle.
Monitor temperature every 6hourly and in case it is above 100F give paracetamol.
Give plenty of fluids, vegetable soup, juices soft bland diet to maintain hydration and nutrition.
Give steam inhalation for relief of cold.
