My husband has had blood in his sperm for approx 6 weeks now. He is 54 and has had his prostate checked approx 3 months ago and all was ok then. He now has aching joints as well. He has a leaky heart valve but is under a specilist for that. What do you think his problem may be?

Hi, thanks for using HCM.

Blood in semen could be due conditions affecting genito urinary system. need to get few test done after the clinical history is evaluated and a physical examination is performed. urinalysis and cultures to identify any sexually transmitted or other infections. When indicated, imaging studies such as ultrasound or MRI may reveal tumors or other abnormalities. In some situations, a semen analysis, in which the semen is analyzed under a microscope.

Treatment depends on condition.

In many cases, if blood in the semen is not associated with any known abnormality of other troubling symptoms, no treatment is given, and the condition usually resolves on its own with time in these situations. Persistent hematospermia (for a month or more) even in the absence of other symptoms warrants further or follow-up evaluation.

Hope this helps you.

Regards
