Question: Hi Doctor,
Following is my latest Thyroid profile test report and taking Throxine 150mg tablets currently. Please suggest if I need to reduce dose. I'm 44 years old male.
Attached reports from July,2015 having TSH 46.02 uIU/ml after which prescribed Thyroxine 150mg tablets and review after 2 months and currently from yesterday's test, it is as per below.
TOTAL TRIIODOTHYRONINE (T3) - 120 ng/dl
TOTAL THYROXINE (T4) - 12.9 μg/dl
THYROID STIMULATING HORMONE (TSH) - 0.05 μIU/ml

Please suggest if i need to change Thyroxine dosage values from 150mg.
Thanks,

Brief Answer:
You need to reduce the dosage of Thyroxine

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX Hi
Good afternoon!
I can understand your concern.
I have gone through the history and the uploaded thyroid profile results done.
It seems you need to reduce the dosage of Thyroxine.
The normal range of TSH while taking Thyroxine should be 0.4 - 4 μIU/mL.
Since your TSH is very low, hence the dosage of Thyroxine should be reduced.

Hope the suggestion could be useful to you.
Best regards.

Brief Answer:
You dose need to be adjusted to around 125 mcg.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX Hi
Thanks for your reply and the compliments.

Well, the idea of dosage adjustment should be to maintain the TSH level in a desired therapeutic range as mentioned earlier. I would therefore suggest a dose of 125 mcg/day may an optimum one. However, you must consult your treating physician for this possible change.

Hope I could answer your query. However I shall be glad to answer if you have any follow-up query otherwise kindly close this discussion after rating the answers given.

Best regards.
