What Does Thick Sticky White Vaginal Discharge Indicate?

default
Posted on Thu, 30 Apr 2015
Question: thick sticky white discharge all the time I go to dr. And they give me medicine for bacterial vaginitis and yeast. When I take it it goes away when I'm on the medicine but, when I stop it comes right back. I can't enjoy sex and my boyfriend says it is very tart and sour. He also, says it feels mushy like walking on the bottom of the ocean, it's not wet, hot, silky like it should be. We haven't had sex in over two months because of it. This has been going on for three years. It sucks and I don't know what to do about it., My boyfriend has been treated as well.

Brief Answer:
Vaginal lab culture needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.

You need to have a lab culture of vaginal discharge for the causing microorganisms and antibiogram to find the right drugs, in order to treat once for all your infection.

You need to have blood tests too, in order to evaluate your immune system function.

I suggest you to discuss above mentioned possibilities with your treating Doctor, and not just to have neverending blind treatments.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

A second opinion is always a good thing for the patient, so you can find another Doctor, but it is important to find one that has competency in its field and a competent back up laboratory, in order to have a correct diagnosis and treatment.

Brief Answer:
Monistat 7 should be tried for one week.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for asking back.

Monistat 7 contains low doses of anti fungal drug and is used usually during pregnancy, however it should be tried for a week.

If the fungal infection continues after Monistat use, a vaginal culture should be collected ant studied in lab for sensitivity regarding drugs.

Hope this helps. Wishing you good health.
