Brief Answer:
ESR is high due to infection as suggested by high WBC count.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.

An elevated level of ESR is suggestive of inflammation in body.
ESR is not specific for any disease and it can be elevated in large number of conditions.
The blood reports are also normal with hemoglobin of 14 gm% and platelet count of 3.4 lakhs / cmm.
The white blood count (WBC count) is slightly elevated at 10,760 / cmm.
The upper limit for WBC count is 10,000 / cmm.
Elevated WBC count is seen infections.
Thus, there is evidence of infection based on WBC count and ESR is elevated in infection.
As the infection will clear, the ESR will also come within normal limits.
Since, ESR is slow to come within normal limits, it may take longer as compared to infection.

Thanks and take care
