Brief Answer:
I went through your reports and previous questions

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Actually I was waiting for your reply about symptoms, if any.

Attached report shows level of ALT around 47- that seems fine.

Previous level of 75 was high and was due to your medications probably.

ALT generally raises whenever there is stress to liver parenchyma.A stress can be infection, medication, alcohol or liver tissue damage etc.

But these level do come back to normal once the underlying cause subsides.

So no special treatment is needed for this apart from removing or resolving underlying cause.

Since other parameters of liver function test are not elevated, there is no need to be worried.

Please ask if there are any doubts.Regards.

Thank you. I have been quite worried. I am a 37 white male. I accepted a promotion in my carrer and had to move the family 4 hrs from our previous residence in December. With selling a house, buying a house, getting kids in new school, wife finding new job and new job, i was under enormous stress. I was diagnosed with an "anxiety attack" in December which is where those December results came from. My ALTs were fine then.........ER DR said i was dehydrated though. I then found a GP in July and went for my first checkup. Thats the other lab results...........I WAS SHOCKED THAT MY ALTS XXXXXXX FROM 47 to 75. I got stressed even more. My GP says shes not worried about the ALTs but IS concerned about my cholesterol. Im on Crestor now. In the middle of all this i had an endoscopy and discovered i have a hiatal hernia which is causing horrible acid reflux. Im on nexium now and it seems to be helping. I have changed my diet to a more healthy, vegtable heavy style. I am just really concerned about my liver. Is this normal for ALT levels to fluctuate like this?

Brief Answer:
Stressful life is the cause.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

All your health issues including raised ALT and cholesterol are related to stressful life and may be previous eating habits.

Fortunately no permanent harm has been done. ALT do fluctuate like this. Like your GP even I am not worried about. It doesn't mean liver has been harmed.

Just calm down, try yoga, breathing exercise, walk, meditations, adequate sleep, afternoon nap if possible and good healthy diet. Try this for three month without break and excuse and everything will be fine.

See you after three months.Feel free to ask if there are doubts.Regards
