Brief Answer:
Surgery is indicated if there is blood in urine, retention, kidney problem

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. The prostate is a gland that is located in the base of urinary bladder. It starts enlarging in many men after middle age. You have a moderate prostate enlargement measuring 42 cc. If this is the first time you got your prostate volume measured with no symptoms of acute urinary retention and other urinary symptoms except increased frequency then medicines can be tried and a follow up scan done after 3 months.

2. If there is blood in urine, repeated urinary infection, acute urinary retention, kidney problem and if your prostate is enlarged for many months and not decreasing in size with medicine then surgery is suggested. Please do PSA level blood test.

3. The cyst in lower pole of left kidney measuring 12 mm is insignificant. It is probably a small fluid filled simple cyst and not an important finding. In middle age and elderly one or two cysts in each kidney is normal.

Hope your query is answered.
Please do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
