What Do Black Spots On The Labia Minora Indicate?

default
Posted on Sat, 7 Jan 2017
Question: Hi there,
I have recently discovered a dark spot on my labia minora. It's difficult for me to get a clear look, and difficult check if its a mole and if it's a mole if it meets the requirements for a suspicious mole, due to the nature of the area. When relaxed it looks asymmetrical and when the skin it pulled it does not. My partner also says that it looks like it is below a layer of skin, like maybe a blood blister, but not like one he has seen before. It's currently Friday afternoon, and so I can't get in to see a doctor to check it out. I am 31 years old and can't recal ever having a mark there. The internet is no comfort presently as all signs point to cancer. Is there anyone who can help me figure out what it might be?

Hi,
Thank you for hetting back to me.
It is a brownish black in colour. It doesnt seem to be raised, and it is not firm. It appears to be raised when the skin is relaxed, but then pulled taught it seems to flatten. It looked at first like it might be a large blackhead when stretched out.
It is not itchy or painful at all.
I have been in a monogomous relationship for a while, and it doesn't seem to match any description of genital herpes or warts.
My photos are not very good considering how hard it it to get a look at, happy to try and provide more if the ones i can send arent very good.

Brief Answer:
Don't worry because it is a pigmented nevus

Detailed Answer:
Hi again !
I have seen the picture and it is a pigmented nevus.
Pigmented nevi (moles) are growths on the skin that usually are flesh-colored, brown or black.
Moles can appear anywhere on the skin, alone or in groups.
Moles occur when cells in the skin grow in a cluster instead of being spread throughout the skin.

In genital area these pigmented nevi are benign ,hence there is no need to worry.
