Posted on Tue, 24 Nov 2015
Question: I have a tiny red rash on my stomach and upper chest. My legs and arms have had odd pains, my arm was in so much pain that I had a heating pad on it for three days. My lymph node in my neck is swollen. I am extremely tired every day. I have night sweats. My father had CLL and has since passed away. I looked online and I am concerned to have alot of the same symptoms that are present in CLL patinets. I am 54 years old.

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic!

Based on the history you have shared, it is possible as the age group, family history, the feverish feelings aka malaise, night sweets, lymph nodes swelling and rash which can be due to low platelets which can also be a sequalae of CLL type 3.

However before panicking, a simple investigation which will rule out, any such blood tumor is complete blood count which will assess the total white blood count alongwith platelets and Red blood cells. A peripheral film or smear will look for atypical lymphocytes. Next step can be lymph node biopsy. Till then use simple analgesic like acetaminophen for symptomatic relief.

Keep me apprised of the situation if you wish so. Hoping it turns out to be normal. If you dont have any more questions, please close the discussion. Regards.
