Brief Answer:
It is normal in viral infection in throat.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, welcome to healthcaremagic. I really appreciate your concern. I am Dr. Manan Patel answering your query.

Symptoms and signs described by you is very common in viral throat infection leading to soreness and throat and adjacent areas. So you don't need to be scared.

You have not mentioned about associated fever, nasal congestion or post nasal drip. If you don't have these associated symptoms then you can manage the viral infection at home. Kindly follow below mentioned measures:

1) Gargle with lukewarm salt water to help reduce swelling and relieve discomfort. Simply add 5 gm or 1 tea spoon salt to one glass of lukewarm water and gargle 3-4 times a day.
2) If you think you are having associated rhinitis then take Levocetrizine tablet once a day.
3) If you are having post nasal drip then you can have steam inhalation twice or thrice a day.
4) Have oral multivitamin tablet and chewable vitamin C lozenges.
5) If you suspect acid reflux from stomach then try anti reflux medicines, antacids and preventive measures.

Viral throat infection may take several days to subside so do not panic. There is no absolute medicines for it. So just have to follow your doctor advice.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
It is absolutely normal in viral sore throat.

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,

In case of viral sore throat swelling and redness can be observed over throat, uvula, tonsil and back and side of the tongue. It is due to inflammation caused by viral infection itself.

Kindly follow above mentioned instructions to reduce the inflammation. You'll be fine within some days.

Answered by Dr. Manan Patel (11 hours later)
Brief Answer:
It is quite normal and not an emergency.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,

This kind of soreness on palate and on gums may be due to sequelae viral sore throat and fungal infection secondary to antibiotics use. So if you want to be sure whether there is any fungal or bacterial organism responsible for it you should go for throat culture by swabbing. It is not an emergency condition. You can discuss the need of culture after discussing with your treating doctor. If there is any fungal infection then it can be treated by nystatin oral suspension.

Hope I answered your query.
