Brief Answer:
I have outlined various possibilities

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for contacting me on Healthcare Magic,

After going through the clinical history, I am outlining various possibilities:-

1. Considering his age , there is possibility that skin becomes lax and thin , this may be the reasons for frequent bruises
2. As he is using Aspirin tablets, which is a anti -platelet agent , which decreases the effective clotting of the blood may be the reason for bruises on already aged skin.
3. By repeating the platelet count (PLT) again , I insist here to ask your lab people not to do through cell counter but ask particularly to do via manual method by Neubaur chamber method . which gives correct report of platelets.
4.If the platelet count comes again normal with manual method also , then we can come to conclusion that there is decreased platelet function (Qualitative function) even though they are good in count. Which generally happen in patients who were using Aspirin realted drugs or patients who just recovered from viral fevers particulary in XXXXXXX

I have a good experience in my clinic with such a type of cases where platelet count is with in normal range and patient will have easy bruises , where most of these patients are just got recovered from viral fever.

So I think its the same case with your father also.

Right now my suggestion is, if he doesnt have any episodes of Heart related problems or Peripheral vascular problems and if he is not a smoker ,better put him off from Ecospirin for a while to see any improvement in his rash /bruises that too under a care of your treating physician only.

Hope i have clarified your doubt, Also I am glad to answer any of your future queries also

Thanks a lot.
Suppose, he continuous with the current dosage of Ecospirin as it is, will this bruising stop after sometime naturally.. Since it can be the after effect of Viral fever? Till then he will continue with the ointments & lotions suggested by the dermatologist..

In this case, how long will it take to get back to normal (bruising to stop)?

Brief Answer:
takes 15 to 20 days to resolve naturally.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back,

Normally the bruising will resolve in 15 to 20 days depending upon the size and severity. Until then you can continue the dermatologist prescription.
About Aspirin, if there are no new rash/bruises you can keep giving .As he has been on this drug for cardiovascular protection from such a long time you need to discuss with your treating physician before you commit to do any modifications.

But the main thing you should remember is tell him to stay away from any monor injuries and not to sleep/lie down continuosly in one postion only. By keep changing the position from side to side it avoids formation of any bed sores or infection from already formed bruises/rash.

Any body who just had recovered from viral illness will manifest lassittude and low energy levels which is normal phenomenon , give him a good balanced diet with vegetables and fruits.

If you have still further questions I am happy to help you.
regards,
