Hi Dr. Mittal,

I have developed a strong irritation on the back of my scrotum that started two years ago and has slowly decreased. It is still present as an irritation and having to sit for eight hours a day for work I would like to resolve this irritation. Since this started I had a general exam and ultrasound. This showed a scant light liquid in my scrotum with no bacteria or inflammation in my urine no cancer also. I was diagnosed with prostatitis and had taken cipro and then doxycycline. Afterwards I did take Tylenol which helps but how much is to much? The doxycycline helped greatly but gave me diarrhea. What else can I do to have this stopped? Walking and or a bath can help for a day but thats about it. Having worked around many medical residents they have talked about control stimuli with their patients and drug compliance with a fake epididymitis. Sounds very mean and aggressive. It seems to me this is not going away. Some medical doctors say to just tolerate this and I find that to be to difficult. Thank you

Brief Answer:
Need to know why recurrence

Detailed Answer:
Hi again
I have read your query
I understand that you have an infection for approximately 2 years
this keeps coming and going with antibiotics
So I will consider it as a recurrent scrotal infection.

I think we need to focus more on the conditions that may cause recurrence rather than just the infection
The conditions like diabetes hypothyroidism can cause recurrent infection cause they compromise your immunity
therefore i suggest testing for these conditions.

Also you say there is some relief by bath,
i am assuming from this information that you have a lot of sweating problem.
Bathing twice a day is therefore recommended
You can also use some medicated powders

Please do let me know the reports
Best of luck

Hi Dr. Mittal,

I have had very strong sweating my whole life mostly from my teenage years. Very easily do I sweat with walking very quickly. I have been told this is a good response by my body. Usually I try to change clothes or use more air conditioning and cool environments. Could this indicate a medical condition or something I should check?

I always check my blood sugar and it never goes very high.

I think I need to ask my family doctor about hypothyroidism but when I had it checked with general lab tests about 10 years ago it was GOOD.

I am overweight at 360 pounds 5'11 height with a large bone frame body. Weight loss will help as a continued goal.

Anything that can help me now is what I would be interested in learning about.

Could you tell me more about medicated powders? How do I find them? Are they by prescription?

Can I have my scrotum drained of infection? How do Doctors do that by needle through scrotal skin?

Can the prostate leak into the scrotum by a hernia?

Thank you

Brief Answer:
Specific questions answered

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

1. Sweating is a normal physiological procesS. Many people do sweat more but it is not a pathological process. So you can relax there. As I said, you really need to keep the scrotum dry.

2. Thyroids 10 year back is a long time back, especially in view of your overweight status.

3. Medicated powders are powders that have medicine mixed in them eg fluconazole. The availabilit without prescription depends on the area and the country. Most places they are easily available.

4. Scrotum can be drained, but its a minor surgical procedure. The fluid might be due to an opening called hernia. However prostate cannot herniate to scrotum.

I hope that answers your review questions.
