What Causes Frequent Urination When Diagnosed With Prostatitis?

default
Posted on Fri, 25 Nov 2016
Question: About a month ago I noticed one day that I am going to the bathroom to urinate a lot. I had a long flight coming up and being a hypochondriac I stared checking the syptoms on line. Of course, I started to freak out. On the flight back I felt like urinating but held it in for 6 hours. Now for the past month I have been feeling like urinating and sometimes I go and sometimes I hold it in for hours because I am afraid if I go I will start going every half hour. I did see my doctor a week after it happened and he said it is most likely prostatisis and nothing to worry about and gave me some antibiotics. I have been struggling with it for a month now because it is constantly is in my head. I cant say that I have an urge to pee anymore and I go maybe 6 or 7 times a day. I rarely get up at night as well. The only other symptom I have is some pressure that I feel in the lower abdomen. I wonder if this is from holding back to urinate for hours like I did a couple of weeks ago. Also, I had some constipation issues the past month where I strain a lot when going to the bathroom.. In fact, when I went today I noticed a little creamy sticky stuff from my penis which I am not sure if this is normal or not.
Thank you!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I read carefully all your concerns and I can say as follows:

1.You are reporting to have been diagnosed with prostatitis. I need to know more about :
- what antibiotic did you use?
- how long did you used it ?
2. Your symptoms like frequent urination and creamy stuff from penis may be due to :
- urinary tract infection ( prostatistis, antibiotic has failed)
- STD ( sexual transmitted disease)
At this point I would suggest to do :
- urine culture test
- culture of penis secretion ( if it is possible)
- trans rectal ultrasound to better evaluate prostate.
If you have done these exams please upload them to me.
3. With regards to constipation, it may be related with :
- low fiber diet, low water intake
- IBS
- low physical activity
4. Meantime I suggest to:
- use plenty of water
- use vegetables and fresh fruits
- increase physical activity
- do not postpone urination
- use prune and kiwi
- use cranberry juice
Hope it was helpful to you!
