Question: Hi. I wrote in regarding a question of right abdomen pain or dull pain/cramp pinching sensation that spreads to the upper right abdomen and lower right abdomen. Had normal ultra sound and blood tests. Had other tests such as colonoscopy, endoscopy 7 years ago when i had similar pain and were normal along with CAT scans. Doctors think its probably muscle skeltal or stress IBS. They dont wany to do more testing. Would you agree?

Brief Answer:
no need of more investigations.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I understand your concerns.

You have dull, pinching right abdominal pain which spreads to upper and lower abdomen.
All the investigations are normal.

Skeletal muscle spasms or IBS can be the cause.
Usually there are other features in IBS like constipation, diarrhea, mucoid stools etc.

Stress can contribute to both condition, muscle spasms or IBS.
And both these conditions require no more testing.

Do you have any other symptoms like dizziness, palpitations, restlessness, breathlessness, pinching pain elsewhere in body?

For IBS, probiotics can help.
Muscle spasms could be relieved by muscle relaxants.

Also, practice relaxation exercises like meditation. This will help.

Hope to have answered your query satisfactorily.

Feel free to ask further.
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
no need of any other tests.

Detailed Answer:
You are most welcome.

In my opinion, there is no need of any other tests.

This is most probably a muscular pain.

Practice relaxation exercises.
You can take ibuprofen as and when needed.
This should help.

I wish you well.
Take care.
Thanks.

I also shoild mention that on the ultrasound the technician told me she saw a cyst on right ovary but when the radiologist read it everything was normal. My doctor said this can happen bc it may have been a usual insignificant cyst to not even mention. I asked to repeat it and my doctor said no. Its not neccsary. And to stop worrying. Now i assume this can happen but figured i would mentimn it. I plan to give you an excellent rating as youve been so helpfiul and i am most appreciatve .

Brief Answer:
may be a functional ovarianl cyst.

Detailed Answer:
Sometimes, there are functional ovarian cysts which are found incidentally on ultrasound.
These remain asymptomatic clinically.
If your radiologist had assured you, then you should not worry.

I think there is no need for further investigations.

Hope this answers your query satisfactorily.

I wish you well.
Thanks.

I should mentiom that when i had a colonoscopy back in 2008 they found a benign polyp but they dont want to repeat it at leaat dor a few more yeaers

Brief Answer:
most polyps are asymptomatic.

Detailed Answer:
Ninety-five percent of colon polyps do not cause any symptoms or signs.

The most common symptoms or signs when they do occur are those of bleeding from the polyp.

This usually results in small amounts of blood in the stool.

Polyps usually do not cause the kind of pain which you are having.

However, an gastroenterologist can give you a better advice on this (investigation and management) as this is not my area of expertise.

Hope this helps.

Take care.
Thanks.
