Brief Answer:
go to Emergency

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
If you have cardiomyopathy and afib and are having chest tightness you need to go to the Emergency Department immediately.
Anti-inflammatory medications like aleve and motrin can cause people with cardiomyopathy to go into heart failure so they need to be avoided.
Tylenol does not do that so it is a good alternative for pain as long as your liver is okay.
I urge you to go to Emergency now for evaluation of your chest tightness

I could not find your answer last night. so i took a Atenolol. Feel much better today . Guess I'd better stay away from Aleve. Wish i could find something to work Tylenol does nothing. Did not realize I could go into heart failure. Hips feel a little better today after injection but sore to lay on sides. Nothing seems to work for this pain back , hips, neck , thumb joints. Going back on Omega 3 . I try to be active but always pay for it. I have tried Celebrex, Cimbalta made me so ill, Lyrica, gabapentin. I refuse to go on IV med's rest of my life. I do take Norco but it only takes edge off back pain. What is in Aleve that seems to work? Oh well woe is me and I guess rest of people with arthritis and fibramyalga what is wrong with my spell check LOL Thanks anyway,

Brief Answer:
glad you feel better

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I am glad you are feeling better.
The aleve is an anti-inflammatory and that is why it works so well for some forms of pain that also have inflammation.
You may need to increase your narcotic dose. It may be the safest option for you.
I want to urge you again that if you have chest tightness you need to go to Emergency. It can be a sign of heart attack.
Regards,
Dr. Robinson
