My mom had a heart attack at 42. She survived.. scary, though. I know we have heart disease on both sides of the family. What're my chances of a heart attack any time soon if I do not change my habits now? I'm currently 18 years old, 220 lbs at 5'3" (yeah, pretty obese), and my blood pressure is high (143/102). I don't eat very healthy and don't really exercise. How short is my life looking? Would you say I'd have a heart attack before I'm 25 at this rate?

I had a cardiac cath done January 2010 which showed no blockages. The ER said I had a heart attack which showed thru the enzymes not on ekg. I went to my primary doctor who showed me a heart and said I had a small blockage at the base of the heart. When I was in the hospital a doctor came in and asked me why I was there because everything was very clear and they were not really sure that I had a heart attack. I asked just before I left the hospital what diag they were going with and they said mild heart attack. So why did my primary phy tell me I had a blockage. This was a heart attack from stress.

doctor1 MD

Other causes are indeed uncommon, but not unknown
Hence, the two terms are often used interchangeably by most people
The word ‘Block’ is less stressful for the patient than the word ‘Attack’ – that is most likely the reason...
