Suggest Treatment For Spots On Groins And Arms

default
Posted on Wed, 21 Jan 2015
Question: Hello

I have new spots on my groin and arms. I include a pic. Do these look serious? I have fungal cream, antibacterial cream and antibiotics but the spots are not responding to anything yet.

I tested negative for all main std's and have not taken any risks.

My last possible exposure to any form of std was from a massage in January 2014 but did not have sex. Afterwards I had to urinate often and have blurry vision, now also spots on my groin and arms. I am worried about possible std's even just from that massage.

I tested negative for hiv, syphillis, chlamydia and hepatitis on 4th April and I'm wondering if this was too early to get the 'all clear'. 10 weeks after the massage.

Do these spots looks like an std rash or just normal bacterial / fungal spots as my own doctor believes.

Thank you

There are many spots on my arms and on my shoulders and groin although 2 doctors I visited are not concerned by them including an STD nurse. They prescribed fungal and bacterial cream and antibiotics I have taken for 5 days but it has not improved.

Brief Answer:
Superficial skin infection / hypersensitivity

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have gone through the question and have seen the three images.

To answer your questions, firstly I would say they don't look like anything serious at least from the attached images.

I think they may be superficial skin infection, bacterial or fungal or maybe due to hypersensitivity reaction to some cosmetic product like massage oil, soap, bathing gel etc. This may also be due to hot shower.

I don't think they at all look like any sexually transmitted disease, particularly wart or so.

So, please don't worry and follow the below mentioned advice -
1. Avoid any cosmetic product. You may use salicylate gel or soap for bath.
2. Avoid hot shower.
3. Keep the affected areas dry and maintain local hygiene.
4. Apply the topical medicines as suggested by your doctor for another week.
5. Please do the following tests -
Complete blood count, ESR, LFT, urea, creatinine

You may write back to me with the test results, if the problem doesn't solve.
