General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Your history of throat infection, pain in ear and skin infection on one side of face indicates herpes zoster which looks to be missed 2 years ago. As you may know Herpes takes a longer time to heal in older age groups, can take months together and the reduced immunity gives additional problems which looks to be your case continued coughing.

Coughing for such a long time needs to be evaluated well:
- X-ray or CT scan of chest
- Mantoux test for tuberculosis
- Tests of blood like ESR, TB Gold test and as required
- ENT Endoscopy and consultation of an ENT Surgeon helps a lot
- Pulmonary function tests and second opinion of a pulmonologist will help to find something that is missed

All these things together will give a proper diagnosis enabling a proper and specific treatment to give you permanent relief.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
